B6. A Moment
He sits there, the cake before him. I see his fork fall.
Quietly, I bring him a new fork.
He looks up, our eyes meet. Not fleeting, not cautious. A look that says: We both know this is different from before.
His hand lifts almost, as if to take the fork himself, then pulls back.
I feel warmth, not just in the hand, but in the whole room. Quiet, unobtrusive, yet palpable.
He smiles. I smile.
And for a moment there are no roles, no counter, no book, no cafƩ.
Just us. Just this. A moment that is enough.
