my new headcanon that I literally just came up with on a whim while I was in the shower on account of my last 2 posts is that maureen coyle is a figment of norman’s imagination/he hallucinated her to compensate with the guilt of losing mary AND the guilt of what happened to marion crane, hence maureen being marion 2.0 right down to the initials AND hence her saying that she saw “mary” when she was saved from her suicide attempt (and all of the [virgin] mary motifs throughout the movie including the statuette in duke’s car).
