“Why are you depressed? You don’t really have anything to be depressed about!” said person.
“That’s why! You see, I’m normal. Everybody sees me as the girl who has everything and doesn’t need anybody. You always see people who have it so bad. The girl who is abused by her dad because he drinks. The boy who has dyslexia and is bullied for it. They are the people who always get noticed. They are the people who get the attention for having the worst possible thing happen to them. What about the good people? They too get what they deserve. Rewards, trophies for being the people who recognized the people in the bad situations. Then there’s the people who are in the middle. They’re the boring ones. They don’t have the rewards for sitting and working all day. They don’t get the attention for making things for people. They get silence. They have all that they ever needed and it hurts them because they aren’t thanked for keeping food on the table or for keeping a roof over their family’s head. Well thank you to the man who is always too busy to be with his kids because he is trying his hardest to keep them alive so that they end up like me the girl with everything. So that they can go to school so that they can have a job. So that they can go to college. They are the people who never get recognized. They’re the normal people. People will always say that there is no normal. Well there is. They’re just ignored.”

This is a quote I made to let people know that there are normal people. They just get ignored. Yes, there is a normal. There is a person who works long hours, sits in front of a desk all day making payments, who has two kids, who has a wife who genuinely loves him. Then there’s the teenager who does her homework, who goes to practice then comes home to sit around and do more homework. Guys, yes there is a normal but people just choose to look at the people who don’t get what normal people get, or look at the people who are more than normal. Then what do the people in the middle get? Nothing. They can be looked at and given the occasional “good job” once in a great while for the work they did. Keep in mind, there are millions of people who don’t get to make their mark on the world or who didn’t have a malnourished childhood. Sometimes, normal people do need to be recognized because they are always the victims of something. And that my friend would be to be ignored. So let’s step up and thank the all night worker who does keep his roof over his family’s head and walks the dog in the morning. Thank the girl who wants to just be normal. Without normal, there wouldn’t be idols. There wouldn’t be extraordinary stories of a truckdriver saving a girl who almost died in a car crash. Normal can be depressed. People just choose not to see it, and neither do they.
