âWell.. thatâs not entirely true..â Robert began, a hand rubbing softly his cheek as he recalled the old times, when he used to keep his hair long, and proceeded to explain as he stepped further into the room. âBoys can have long hair too, itâs just not as common to see long-haired boys as it is seeing long-haired girls.â
âPlease, donât be rough on your Granny. Iâm sure she doesnât mean evil with any of that.â Which would be understandable to anyone who had at least an idea of how growing up in Victorian England. Most Victorians had a limited knowledge on sexuality in general. It was no surprise that some of them would treat anything that fell âoutside of the normâ as something temporary and basically nothing but a phase a person could come out of, or plain out as something âdisgustingâ in some cases that they could ignore until it was gone. Of course he wasnât expecting Joseph to understand all that completely out of nowhere. Not even Robert himself had been able to understand everything about those rough views people had back in the day.
And hereâs where Speedwagon found himself dealing with a huge dilemma: He himself had been able to sport a long mane back in the past for who knows how many years in a time when men were required to be the most âmasculineâ possible, and those who dared to go against that were frowned upon at. He really didnât see a reason why his nephew couldnât dress the way he wanted to or cut his hair as short as he wanted it to be and, as such, wanted to support him but, at the same time, he didnât feel like he had the right to go against Erinaâs wishes, whatever these were. She was little Jojoâs âremainingâ blood relative, after all, and the main person in charge of his well-being, the one who, before the law, had all the right to decide what was best for her grandson, not to mention the fact that Robert and her where technically family as well. The man gave a faint sigh at that train of thoughts. He was almost completely sure he was going to get into trouble later with Erina for thisâŚ
âYouâre one handsome little man!â A warm and genuine smile spread across his lips as he approached the child. âBut your hair looks a little uneven. Would you like me to help you fix it a bit?â A hand was extended in a request for Joseph to hand him the scissors so he could try to even out his hair if only a little.
