YU YU HAKUSHO! What part of my fave manga is driving your story?
Aaah YYH was Formative for me, haha. It cemented a lot of ideas in my head like ‘demons can be good guys and humans can be bad guys’ and ‘fighting manga, but also the characters are unique and friends and want different things and they grieve and shit’ and also ‘you can just have a main character be dead in the first chapter, whatever, go absolutely bananas.’ I still love it a lot!
Probably the one big thing driving WN specifically though is something YYH didn’t even really pay much attention to, which was the fact that [spoilers for the end of the manga] a lot of the shit that allegedly happened to make Enma decide Spirit World had to be in control of Human World was completely fake? Enma made it up as a big fat power play? That shit blew my mind. Corrupt interworld politics?! Well I never.

OMG I FORGOT ABOUT WOLF TOWER AHHH I LOVED THAT BOOK AS A KID
They hold up imo! My local library as a kid was missing Wolf Wing so I read the others over and over again. I still think about the moving rooms in Wolf Star, they have been stuck in my brain for literally more than a decade now.
