Delancy Kemmett (roommate) – Ever since they first met in the fourth grade, the pair have been best friends. Quincy never questions whether Delancy will be there for them.

Emira Ash is a fourteen year old freshman at Drayton Academy. They area demon and resembles Amandla Stenberg.

         For the Ash siblings, things had always been difficult growing up. They don’t remember when they were officially left at a magical foster home, but matched with their longer life spans, both siblings certainly remember growing up without blood family. They always had each other, however, and over time that proved to be enough. Emira had always been the one to calm their brother, Ordan; which, yes, happened to be a lot. Whether it was anger or excitement, Emira was there to keep him in check. Emira didn’t really understand the differences that they had until they were playing with their neighborhood human friend and accidentally transformed their face to their demon form. Since then, Emira has always promised to keep themself in check and not let their true form appear without warrant.         Growing up just outside of Charleston, there was no question that Drayton was the school for them. Emira, even at a young age, wanted a place where they didn’t have to worry about being different; where they could learn how to control their magic. They weren’t sure when it happened, but at some point, Emira began to open up to those around them. The Academy was the one place they felt safe and as they grew older, Emira began to experiment more in their magic, instead of hiding from it. Spending their breaks at school has opened a lot of doors for Emira. They ended up spending a lot of time in the labs experimenting on how magic blends with modern science. Its this drive that has them spending a lot of time studying; far more than their brother, obviously. They are incredibly intelligent and focus most of their energies on bettering their mind. The curriculum at Drayton challenges them to push further than their comfort zone and that tends to empower them even more.          However, the distance they place between themselves and others has created a strong barrier in forming relationships. One that’s become a clutch. Rather than looking around them at the others, they hide away behind science and facts--coming off as a stuck up intellectual, instead. Hostile to those who first approach them, Emira hasn’t yet figured out the best way to gain new friends; other than the ones that already forced themselves upon their life. Even still, they are incredibly generous to those whom they care for; and even those who are brave enough to ask for help.
