~Bitty Rescue!~
~Some of you may know that I, Dreamer, run the infirmary at the G.B.A.C. Recently, we had an emergency bitty rescue and I wanted to tell the story of what happened.~
~~x~~
Chaos received the call in the late hours of the night. Being somewhat of an insomniac, he happened to be awake when the call came through. The person on the other end said they found two small creatures on their front step that had frightened them greatly. Though wild bitties aren't common, they aren't rare either, so Chaos listened. The caller said they had watched the pair for a moment, figuring out that the smaller one was pregnant and being carried around by the other, larger creature. At first, Chaos assumed it might be a bonded Darkly and Red, as they tend to carry around their pregnant mates, but the caller informed him that the only reason they knew what they were was they had seen them before, from the Guardian Bitty Adoption Center... And said the two bitties were from HorrorVerse, according to the website. Chaos was confused, as Watchers and Noms are very reclusive during the pregnancies and a Nom is normally carried... Well, out of sight.
So, given that information, Chaos realized that the Nom was ready to birth. The bitties from HorrorVerse will only seek assistance if their mate is due, even from strangers if they are desperate enough. He thanked her, immediately calling Dreamer.
((We've got a rescue and delivery needed asap!))
Dreamer was there in moments and soothed the Watcher, insisting they will both be safe back at the G.B.A.C and his mate will be able to birth in comfort. The Watcher did seem torn between suspicion and the need for protection but went with him, Dreamer thanking the owner of the house for calling in.
It was a tedious process. The poor Nom was very weak, presumably due to lack of food, and the Watcher was very jumpy, more so than usual. Dreamer was careful, soothing her and giving her the nutrients she would need to get through the ordeal, her mate holding her for comfort.
It took hours of coaxing and soothing and feeding, before the tiny cries of a baby bitty were heard throughout the infirmary. The little bundle was swaddled and given to the mother who slumped, exhausted, into the arms of her mate. She passed out moments later and Dreamer told the Watcher that they should stay for a bit, at least to get her better. He said if they wanted to leave again afterwards, they could, or they could stay in the shop. Potentially even get adopted!
A few days later and the Nom was looking much better, eating well and cradling her baby almost constantly, cooing them. The Watcher agreed to stay, but insisted they not be put up for adoption. Dreamer knew why, he always does, so he didn't pry. He said they were more than welcome to stay. Perhaps, he said, if they didn't want to be adopted, they could help out around the shop. Watchers are larger than the other bitties and, as such, can help do things other bitties can't. The Nom may also help, if she wanted, as Noms are skilled at empathy and could assist Dreamer in the infirmary. They agreed to that and went back to playing with their newborn. Dreamer asked what they had named their child, curious.
"Spark. Because of you."
The X that obscured his face couldn't hide his overjoyed grin.
~What a nice name.~
