I still can’t listen to Avicii tributes without crying. This was a really good tribute and even the art is a good tribute to him. Can’t believe it’s nearly been 6 months.

Halsey’s Strangers, featuring Lauren Jauregui, felt like a mainstream game changer when it dropped to much acclaim over the summer. While erroneous “conventional” pop expectations have long been subverted with a new spate of diverse artists in the emerging music scene (ie. Hayley Kiyoko, SAKIMA, SOPHIE, and so many more), to have a song illuminate an impassioned and unpretentious girl-girl relationship on the world stage is still unfortunately, a rare occurrence. Some of the other pop hits that explored such a dynamic tended to do so in shallow and unrealistic fashion, focusing more on the “fun” of it after wine or the “taste of cherry chapsticks”. As such, we were more than eager to check out a fresh remix of this groundbreaking smash hit, and we were excited to come across a dance edit by Detroit producer Nolan van Lith. He’s given the pop song a dark and heady, heavy and turbulent trap and bass edit that near sets our ears on fire. Nolan van Lith emphasizes the urgency of the pair’s stormy love story with the raucous pummeling remix. In a way, navigating any love story oft achieves this level of rough and tempestuous agitation. The more intense the passion, the more likely, too. Our hearts race and adrenaline pumps through our veins as Nolan van Lith takes us for a rousing ride. Download his remix, here.

I Still Wait For You is the latest gem from Los Angeles sibling duo XYLØ, who never fail to move with their dusky haunting electro pop. It’s a cross Atlantic alliance as Sweden’s Felix Palmqvist and Missouri’s Nolan van Lith offer up their gorgeous interpretation of I Still Wait For You by transforming it into a crisp propulsive, elastic pulsing dance track.
