The events in Charlottesville, Virginia this week have sickened me. I find it absolutely disgusting that there are still some people who dare to show support to white supremacy and other discriminatory ways. The worst thing is, discrimination seems to be becoming more common nowadays, with leaders such as Donald Trump backing up these hateful ideologies. People both on and offline find it okay to use discriminatory language against people different to them due to the support of figures in the media. Even so called “jokes” can hurt so many people. It seems to some people nowadays that if you are not a straight, white, cisgender Christian male, you are not worthy of the same rights. This is not the way it should be in this day and age. This is why I decided to make this piece of art. It is in times like this, in our darkest hours, that we need to stand strong together. Each hand on this heart tells a different story, unique in its own way, and beautiful. To anybody right now feeling scared, or frightened of all the hate: please know that as long as you yourself do not spread hate, I will support you, no matter your gender, race, sexuality, religion, state of health mentally or physically, or nationality. On any of my social media, I will not stand for Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Xenophobia, Transphobia, Ableism or any other form of discrimination.
