Some new highlights from tonight... the first is a nice little lucky shot, the other is uhm... quite the inspiring massacre. :D
Somedays, I’ve still got it!
Dream. Neo-Noir.
Skip tracer trying to find two men out in the boonies.
Eventually comes across the fact they’re part of a secretive criminal organization.
Finds out this is the place where he grew up and the man who runs it is someone he used to be afraid of and may have killed or raped (or made love to?) his mother.
Joins the criminal organization at the end
But gets blown up on his way home.
Well, that was a weird/bad-ass/frustrating dream.
So I dreamt at first that I was working on another local filmmaker's project and they were doing rehearsals. And my mom and dad were both there and all three of us, along with others, were bored, because these were filmed rehearsals that we had to be quiet for while sitting in another room of whoever's house it was. (it was a neat house, almost felt more like a school though, it had a big open room and then a cafeteria next to it... maybe it was a grange hall)
After some of the rehearsals, the director comes over to me and asks about using our house for the movie and we're trying to tell him there's no room and my parents tell me no when I bring the subject up, but we can't seem to let him know, he isn't listening. Which was weird. I dunno, maybe it's some kind of "the careless director side of me doesn't want to listen to logistics or practicality."
Then the dream shifts and it has something to do with police officers. I didn't understand entirely why, but they were rather incompetent. Clumsy. Almost Keystone Cop-esque. I don't know if I'm just around these guys or if I'm one of them, but eventually there comes a spot where we're supposed to go look out at a Hospital that's adjacent to the station. We get in there and it turns out some lunatic is loose in the place, some fugitive.
I don't remember much looking since I seemed to have an idea the bastard was in the children's ward. When I get over there, there's already an officer who's been posted there at the reception for a while, with a rifle in his hands. I look down one of the hallways and the officer says there's been some weird activity and noise from down there for an hour. He pulls up the rifle and goes to look. A dark shape darts out from one of the corners down the hallway, from a room or elsewhere, I don't know, and shots ring out. The cop fires his rifle but takes a hit to the leg. He curses and falls back to the reception while I'm hiding out from all this. Back up arrives and they exchange shots with whoever this guy is in the hallway. Meanwhile, my mind is, "what if?"
I go over to the rifle and to my absolute surprise, instead of bullets, it's single shot... and it uses ink pens. They weren't entirely ordinary, they had an almost syringe like quality to them, but I knew they were pens. So I grab another off the reception desk and reload the bolt-action rifle. Looking down the hallway, I raise the rifle and aim down the iron-sights. No scope, which makes it a challenge and I worry that I'll blow it. There's some children, human shields, laying on the floor now, trying to dissuade us from shooting at the perp.
But the dark shape, like a living silhouette, darts out from the next hallway up ahead, from around the corner. And I take the shot. It misses, terribly. I start to hurriedly reload, but it seems to have spooked him. EDIT: I GOT THIS WRONG. I REMEMBER NOW. He ducks away and goes silent for a long while. I'm trying to reload and get myself another pen, and when I turn around, there's this Bernie Casey looking cop that's coming down the hallway. "He went another way, we're following him now, to the other side of the building!" And as he's passing me I realize wait a second, that's the guy, I recognize his eyes. So when his back's turned to me and he's about to leave the ward, I aim and shoot from the hip. The bullet misses, but it gives us all a clear target. The cops go after him and he gets running. We chase him.
That's when it basically goes into frustrating "what the fuck are you guys doing?" territory, as I see them bumble, slip, slide, and make cartoon noises as they bungle their way around the hospital, back to their station (where the bad guy has supposedly gone), and so on.
I woke up at some point where I realized how goddamn silly it all was.
