Lunar Eclipse
Description below the cut
Having been denied divine protection from the Shadow Curse, Noire took the absence of her Lady as a test of faith. After refusing help from a Selunite cleric in one of the last refuges amongst the curse, she directed her party through the accursed terrain until reaching a stronghold of her Lady’s power -- The Gauntlet of Shar. Retreating into the temple’s caverns, Noire and Shadowheart realized their opportunity to not only topple the reign of the traitor Ketheric, but ascend as part of the once-vanquished Dark Justiars. Despite both having completed the trials and obtaining the Spear of Night, Noire sensed that the final part of the test was meant only for Shadowheart. Scrambling to yet prove her fealty to the Dark Lady, she thought back to old markers of faith in the face of such trials, slinking her way back to Last Light Inn. Under the guise of an enemy attack, Noire sent her own spear through the heart of the cleric, Isobel, figuring the slaughter of not only a Selunite but the child of the traitor to be enough for her Lady’s embrace.
Though she reveled in the gruesome offering that was Last Light’s demise, her celebration was short-lived. Still unable to brave the Shadow Curse unequipped, it became clear that her sacrifice had fallen on deaf ears. With her faith shaken, Noire silently mourned her lost acclaim but nevertheless brought Shadowheart to face the Nightsong, the child of her opposing deity. She chided Shadowheart for faltering in the face of such greatness, threatening to rip the Spear of Night from her and finish the ritual herself. Emboldened by her resolution, Shadowheart concluded the ritual with blood, earning her the love and seemingly endless bounty of the Nightsinger. That day forward, Noire would look upon Shadowheart’s new visage with great heaviness in her heart, dreading the two’s nightly prayer lest she reveal herself to be improperly burdened.
