you can't talk about your "thin blue line" or how "all lives matter" and try to use #mlk quotes about peace and overcoming adversity tomorrow becky, it's in the rules. please take this weekend to remember that for the longest time there were laws (enforced by police) preventing people of color from even existing in the same public spaces as white people. the police have always been a racist institution because they were literally started to catch runaway slaves in this country. police officers also have a horrendously high rate of domestic abuse on top of that, with their victims being unable to turn to say THE POLICE about their abuse because the boys in blue will always back their brethren, even if those brethren are actual murderers. (because killing people of color because they're "scared" - and while we completely ignore the fact that they are literally supposed to be trained professionals BUT ANYWAY - is still murder, even if a court rules in a cop's favor. because, lezbehonest, they always do.) there are no "good cops," there are only people who can put their morals and personal values aside when it comes down to working next to people who have committed the very crimes they claim to be protecting society from. there are no "good cops" there are only people who can use a paycheck to justify serving a capitalist state and keeping quiet about any injustice it commits against civilians. cops are class traitors who make very clear that the law doesn't apply to them and they have the monopoly on "legal" violence. i don't know about y'all, but speaking solely for myself that scares the shit out of me and doesn't make me inclined to EVER trust ANYONE with a badge. not even a cool lesbian cop. know who else wasn't down with cops?
