Update
Unfortunately I moved to a different neighborhood in Baltimore. That combined with some other lifestyle changes has made it hard for me to take advantage of the Blue Bag program.
I have two friends that have recommended a similar program though called “Hungry Harvest.” This program is not local or non-profit (it comes from an idea on Shark Tank) and costs $15 (about twice as much as the blue bag). But it delivers to your house and according to my friends the portions are a little more manageable for 1 or 2 person families.
So while I await my first delivery, I wanted to share some strategies I’ve been using to reduce the waste and extend the life of our purchased food. My goal every week is to zero out our fridge from the last week before I go to the store again and I’ve been pretty successful. In the next few posts I’ll share some recipes that are grouped together based on ingredients that help me zero out.
