The Deep Dig
I've always thought it would be a snooze to be an archaeologist. They go and study primitive societies and do extensive digs. We've seen the movies where they are digging down into the earth and with each layer of dirt they find more primitive fossils and artifacts. Boring I think. I got a first-hand taste of being an archaeologist on a dig today. I decided to clean out my wife's car. (I know what your thinking? What a wonderful husband.) I will say my lady is on call quite often and when on the run tends to toss things into the back seat. As I ventured into cleaning the inside of her vehicle, I wondered if it would be wise to be in a hazmat suit? My first unusual find was a mini-plunger. I don't know why that was in the car. Then I uncovered a still wrapped an unopened loaf of banana bread.(That was beneath discarded fast food bags.) My most incredible discovery(Near the end of my vehicle cleaning.) was a Blockbuster Video box that at one time held the cinematic classic "Corky Romano". ( Chris Kattan's breakout hit.) That thespian has some fine work on his resume. Think of "Undercover Brother" and "Monkey Bone". As I went back into the house I asked my wife what the story was with these finds I unearthed? She made a face and said, "Hey I'm busy". I just let it go at that point. All I'd end up with was her angry at me. I remembered the last time I cleaned her car and found that the kids had all enjoyed a bowl of soup in the backseat. We had an argument that day. I explained how soup in a bowl was not car food. Kind of like spaghetti's not a travel food either. (Have you ever heard someone say they're running late and will just grab a plate of spaghetti to eat in the car? Never!) Her response that time was "We had to keep moving". I've changed my opinion and have a new respect for archaeologists. The car is clean "for now". I did lay down the law with the whole Soup Incident. I told my wife if she was ever to serve soup again to our children in a moving car, no spoons only straws. And no crackers.
