Noctis Imminent - October/September Devlog
Noctis Imminent - October Devlog
Welcome to our first devlog! This will just be a quick update so you guys can see what the team has been up to. Whether a new devlog will come out monthly, bimonthly, ect. That is yet to be decided. The point is to give you guys enough to chew on and enjoy, both in preparation for things to come soon, and farther into the future. As a disclaimer, anything shown in this devlog may be subject to change.
Characters:
In our first post we showed off a few characters, but this time we can go a little more in depth to some of the characters.
Chara
Chara is the character you will control during your playthrough of Noctis Imminent. Their actions are your choices, and your actions are their choices. They won’t have much of a personality, other than some neat “filler” that can happen from time to time.
Chara will also function as the narrator for the game.
Lilith
Lilith is a nice and innocent plant monster based on a Calla Lily. She will help you through your journey. Although she prefers to keep her past secluded. “We’re gonna be best friends!”
Asgore
Asgore functions as a gardener, although he prefers to call the position a caretaker. He takes care of the plants around Misty Gardens, and is glad to spread both wisdom, positivity and kindness around. He lives in his own villa near the transition from Misty Gardens to Ebbot Ruins.
Locations
You may have noticed we mentioned some locations that haven’t been named before. That is because we are creating unique areas to diversify from the environments seen in Undertale. Hopefully this change will bring diversity to the Underground, and we hope that you will enjoy the changes when they come to light. While we haven’t visualised any of the areas yet, there are names for them and general themes surrounding them.
Misty Gardens
A lush green garden with trees shading a path going straight through the heart of the jungle. There’s so much greenery here that the dirt, mud and rock are barely noticeable!
Ebbot Ruins
A vast collection of great archeological ruins dating back to a long time before the first Monster-Human war broke out. Surprisingly they vary from architecture to placement. Seeing it in person is a wonder for regulars and historians alike.
Snowdrift
Looking around Snowdrift, you’ll find yourself in rough terrain. All around you are glaciers, and compact snow. Especially with the arrival of a new human, Snowdrift functions as a variable playground for the Royal Guard.
Dogger Falls
Dogger Falls is named after the central Doggerfall that looms over the industrial landscape. Surrounded by tall cliffs and crags, multiple waterfalls are formed here, making it a prime opportunity for water powered technology. The most prominent of which is The DAM, which both powers the entire Underground and regulates the flow of the Doggerfall.
Lumen City
The city gets its name from the bright and warm sunlight during the day, and the multiple neon advertisements scattered around buildings at night. Lumen City functions as the capital to the Underground, and is a hotspot for commercial and personal business alike.
Ignis Palace
The palace is where the most accessible point to the Barrier is. Thus, the raging sunlight shines through the palace corridors and into Lumen City. The Palace is home to Queen Toriel and her other monarchical necessities. Such as the throne room. Outside the Palace entrance, you will also see the Queen’s Oasis, which is home to the Underground’s most gorgeous and colorful plants.
Story
Nothing is currently set in stone for the story yet. There are things that we’d like to experiment with and what we can play around with. The backstory has been hatched out, but the journey Chara will take during your playthrough has yet to be decided. Keep in mind that you can either choose to slay them or spare them. So the result of your actions will have an effect on your story.
Once Upon a Time Segment
The first major team effort we would like to collaborate on is the Once Upon a Time segment. Mr. Snrub has offered to code the thing, and SigmaMoth has done writing for the segment. While Vuristo made the outline, along with a little storyboarding. With that in mind, I Vuristo would like to remind you that applications for the team (Proud Troop) are still open. Although now there’s a bit of a catch. See the next paragraph for elaboration.
Discord + Team Application
We would like to announce that we are opening a Discord server so that you can join it! Joining the server will give you reliable access to information surrounding both progress that is being made on the game. In addition to the ability to chat with other members of the server surrounding the AU. One MORE thing is that to be able to join the team, you will have to join the Discord server first. Once you’re in the server, you will find a channel where you can request your recruitment into the Proud Troop.
Discord Invite - https://discord.gg/kNgacS58Sz
Currently, we would be more than happy to accept musicians, people who can do art similar to the style shown in the Once Upon a Time segment in Undertale. And people who are good at doing tilesets. As of writing this, our team currently exists of three members Vuristo, SigmaMoth and Mr. Snrub. Our experience together has been lovely, and we would love to see what interesting faces would show themselves in our troop. If you are interested in working on this project, I suggest you try an application. And if you’re just a fan, or are willing to support it, joining helps both us and you. Other ways you can support us are through sharing this Gamejolt page, or our other social media.
Ending
We hope you enjoyed reading through this devlog. Being the first one we release, it’s exciting to get to share some of the bits and pieces we’ve been working on. As well, we hope that the information presented will give you something to chew on and think about.
Have a nice day!
Regards - Proud Troop
