Pilot Vaggi was pretty much a punching bag and a target of slapstick, which was just unfunny. That kind of "humor" only works if the target is unlikeable or unsympathetic, and Vaggi was neither of those things.

Vaggi in the full series is treated with much more respect, standing her ground and legitimately capable of throwing hands, as well as being a more authoritative counterpart to Charlie. Plus, there's the reveal that she was a former Exorcist, with all the power that entails.

I'm just saying, we should appreciate the full Hazbin series for not abusing Vaggi like the pilot did.

Further evidence the Pilot isn't the grand start the Hatedom tries to pretend it is. But in all seriousness, I have never had the right explanation for why I didn't connect with Vaggi's character in the Pilot the way I have for the show. Something rubbed me wrong and I never quite knew what it was. You have just answered that and perfectly explained it for me. Because that is so spot on!

I've always hated that Punching-Bag character, no matter what show it is. Like you said, they should be done for assholes or bad people but so many shows pick someone usually pretty sweet or at worse a little odd/nerdy and have everyone else bully them. It has always made me feel uncomfortable.

          Beatrix’s pride in her swordsmanship is centered around the hard work and dedication she’s placed in it.  And that pride is reflected in both speech and conduct.

When we see her in Burmecia, Beatrix was already issuing orders to locate survivors for a lead on the Burmecian King’s whereabouts when a soldier jumps in to challenge her, not knowing it was in fact the famed Alexandrian general herself.  Upon discovering his mistake, Beatrix acknowledges the challenge regardless      as Burmecians are acclaimed warriors themselves.

Zidane and Freya’s interference is regarded as an insult     “I’ve never been so humiliated in my life.”  It wasn’t their action to take the Burmecian’s place that angered her, and that was in fact what may have saved their lives.  They addressed Beatrix as if they could defeat her.  She makes them well aware of her skill and calls them “insects” before easily defeating them.

“How ridiculously weak...”

“Isn’t there anyone who is worthy of facing me?”

Leaving them alive may have been both a noble gesture that they would take another’s place from death, and, too, a subtle way of teaching them not to cross her again.
