People have a completely idealised image of Noel Gallagher. They put him on a pedestal as if he’s some misunderstood genius, but it’s easy to admire someone when you only know the public persona. The reality is often far less glamorous. Being a great musician doesn’t automatically make you a good man. There’s a huge difference between the artist and the person, and those who’ve seen both sides know exactly what I mean.
Yep. Not sure if you would disagree with me, but I think it could happen to new fans, who approach the work of a musician, that moment of idealization. Kind of normal in some cases, I guess. But there should be some sort of evolution from that idealizing phase, in my opinion.
For me, age could play a role in that phase. I think new or younger fans are the ones more easily impressed. Probably speaking from personal experience, teen me was idealizing them in the 90s. Looking back I think it was a combination of things. I had a idealistic view of life and no much understanding of life. Kind of seeing the good in everyone. Though it did not take very long to understand they had flaws already back in the 90s 😆
Actually I would say that it was easier to "wake up" from the enchantment at the time. The amount of gigs cancelled, affairs, fights etc was on the papers constantly.
These days, they mellowed down a bit. Liam rebuilt his image. Noel has disappeared from podcast and his interviews are kept to a minimum. Have a feeling it's nothing casual. So what most people see, it's 2 brothers who patched things, play on stage and act as good fathers. That's a small piece of who they truly are. Like any human being, they have flaws.
