Thai Nouns Are Great
Today I learned that nouns in Thai are uninflected and have no gender. No declensions, nothing like that. Â
And if you want to make it plural, you just say it twice! Ingenious.Â
So dek = a child, while dek dek = children.
You remember that bit with RamKing and the twins? I thought King was being cute with his dek dek, when it’s not a diminutive, it was a pluralization!
Mind blown.Â
You know what else is cool?Â
Also they don’t have articles. Isn’t that great? Stupid tiny excess words.Â
