The weird space of
knowing Caine's lashing out was wrong
being a Caine defender because you relate to or understand how he got to that point
but also not thinking it was "character assassination" because of feeling like this was inevitable
but also not being in the "he did nothing wrong" crowd,
but also being in the "The humans are hypocrites" crowd,
but also understanding they're in a cycle tormenting each other (TADC was partially inspired by Evangelion this some hedgehog dilemma shit (Google it)
but also knowing there was something else trying to push everyone to this point
but also wanting him to change and take responsibility
but also wanting him to live and get some apologies but
also thinking that Kinger and Scratch have some responsibility to take that they haven—
LISTEN. NUANCE.
Everyone did things wrong and Caine needs to earn forgiveness for lashing out but he doesn't need to apologies for being disregarded and ignored from the day he was born.
I do believe he needs to come back. Not just because I love him, though I know I'm biased. But otherwise it feels hypocritical to the shows themes.
Yes it would be shocking and brutal, and this show is shown to not hold back but like... I think in an ask once, Gooseworx said she cares more about themes.
What about Gummigoo being offered compassion despite being an AI antagonist at first in Candy Carrier Chaos?
What about "The worst thing you can do is make someone feel unwanted or unloved" and never feeling content or satisfied with yourself in Mildenhall Manor?
What about being allowed to be yourself feel your emotions and passions without having to put them aside for a grinding job? Being forgiven when your issues cause you to be unpleasant in Fast Food Masquerade?
What about never ever being able to please everyone all the time in Untitled?
What about being a person with depth instead of the archetype in They All Get Guns? (in Caine's case, the evil AI archetype)
What about the overall theme with Pomni, slowly coming to care and cherish the people you're stuck with, them giving you strength?
My point is, if we don't recieve some closure for Caine's character arc, all the previous things the show was trying to say would feel... Dishonest. So that's why I have faith in him coming back in some way shape or form.
I really hope so.
