The fact Sif was already called Great Grey Wolf Sif when we summon her for the Manus boss fight means Artorias had always called her that when she was still a normal size wolf.

I love how Gwyn stubbornly kept his crown because that's a symbol of his kingship
so much that instead of giving it up, he or his son had to make a similar one
and guess what. His son also stubbornly didn't let go of that crown either even after his banishment. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He still called himself a nameless king even.
He can have his name erased but he drew the line at his kingship lol, so much for the guy made to be the heir of that title. Despite everything, he still proudly declared that he was the King of Lordran once. And then a part of the fandom still thinks he got banished during the war or when he was still a prince or sth 😔

There's also a neat little storytelling method that FromSoft uses: they place a character's armor in the location that reflects their allegiance. We first saw this hinted at when the Darkmoon Knightess' armor was found in Gwyndolin’s chamber.
Then developer interviews only confirmed this pattern further, for instance, Kirk's armor was discovered in the Fair Lady's room and they confirmed that he was indeed a Chaos Servant. Similarly, Quelana's robe found before Ceaseless Discharge implies a personal connection between them. I haven't played DS2 and DS3 so I can't list more example but I'm sure y'all can.
And yes this is, once again, propaganda about how Ornstein is indeed gay faithful to the Firstborn. What do you expect from me.

Also. Also. Sorry bear it with me im in a yapper mode tonight. But just like how the Firstborn looked after his warriors, or Gwynevere passed down her power to maidens, Gwyndolin also had a soft spot for people like him: the outcasts with forms considered "hideous". Like every interaction he had with someone not related to Gwyn is with someone considered abhorrent by the society
He gave an undead an armor to hide her hideous form and help her with her hunts.
He knighted Smough despite his looks, his habit, and even though Gwyn himself denied Smough that honor (i really can make a separate yap post about these two)
He brought Yorshka in, despite her clear draconic traits and not being a child of Gwyn.
He welcomed the half-tree man Sulyvahn, when he had no place in the painting world.
And Priscilla also likely had a grave in Irithyll, implying she was allowed a place there.
The 4 children of Gwyn all take care of their believers one way or another, and that creates a clear contrast with Lloyd and Sulyvahn, whose reign caused terrors to their followers. Idkkk man i love them a lot.
I find it so endearing that, as the God of War, the Firstborn himself pushed the mindset that "there's nothing wrong with relying on other people".
He was fully aware that powerful enemies were meant to be taken down together. He encouraged his warriors to help others, especially rookies. There's nothing wrong with calling your friends over or using summon signs of NPCs. Hell, Sacred Oath was the first miracle he gave us in DS3.
For a community so obsessed with Solaire, it's always funny to me how some people think asking for help "ruins" the fight. If anything the promotional arts of the games always include jolly cooperations lol.
I bring a sort of "I love Gwyn" vibe to Gwyndolin tag that no one likes.
No but like, I get if one sees that Gwyndolin was oppressed by Gwyn and all, I myself feel related to the fact Gwyndolin was raised according to his father's will since I'm asian 💔 and even though it's explicitly said Gwyndolin loves the sun thus his father, and his whole environment in DS1 bla bla, I agree that an abused child can still love and devote to their parents out of filial piety (source: me).
But hey, Gwyn actually never hid Gwyndolin away! Like if a Fromsoft monarch wants to hide their hideous child you will know it *pointing over the direction of a certain goddess*, but Gwyn:
- allowed the moon cult, made them his police department
- let Gwyndolin be the patron deity of Oolacile, with his statues everywhere in that place, particularly around the Battle of Stoicism arena which is the place where people fight to gain the rights to Anor London (screw the God of War anw amirite). There's even Gwyndolin's statue in Ringed City
- the parchment behind Miracles in Dark Soula actually depicts Gwyn and Gwyndolin (screw the Firstborn amirite) ever since DS1. DS3 just upscale the quality so we can see it better
- "Gwyn hates Gwyndolin because he has moon power" have you seen the way Gwyn treated the original of that moon power. Seath was given his own land in the highest place of Lordran, was allowed access to every knowledge ever known to gods, was allowed to have servants that go anywhere they like and kidnap maidens, was wed legitimately into Gwyn's family himself. And with how powerful the Dragon School of Vinheim and how much widespread sorcery is, it's pretty safe to say Seath was allowed to spread his influence in this world too
- "Gwyn hates Gwyndolin because he is half-dragon" Shira, someone was also half-dragon - highly implied to the legitimate child of Seath and his rightfully consort that Gwyn gave him - was given Knight title, was the closest servant of a child of Gwyn, likely participated in the dragon war (she used miracle of female dragonslayer and dragonslaying is said to be "Knighthood's highest calling" in Lordran), was allowed to execute a whole Pygmy Lord, and utterly loyal to Gwyn and was proud of her lineage. Safe to say she suffered no oppression from him.
So no, Gwyndolin's existence was not something hidden by Gwyn, if he actually did it we will know (cue Filianore and Ringed City, hell Filianore is implied to even got her name changed since it's Latin instead of Welsh and it means Daughter of the Sun, which likely is what the pygmies call her instead of her real name), it's just Gwyndolin being extremely self-conscious. And if this self-consciousness self-inflicted or cause by Gwyn, well that's your own headcanon, I have no say in that 🫡
