What I think is funny is, Owen introduces Sparrow as Just A Regular Guy
So, Just A Regular Guy, with a Penchant For Mischief and a Love For Discovery, crash lands in Color-fucking-rado, makes a tent, and immediately begins straight-up murdering people (pirates). He just starts whaling on them, dude. He videos it. Heâd be fucking wrecked in court bro. No getting out of that one
TLDR: Colorado either makes you homicidal or Sparrow has been WAITING for this moment

Not for any strongly founded reason, I just think itâd be fun for him. And by him I mean me, watching him. The fun gimmicks and the realizations he could come to, the way Sparrow always narrows in on his goals, chasing them down until he can catch them, snaring them in his web. I feel like itâd be neat, realizing he has webs andâI would really loveâvenom.
Becoming something further from human than he expected. Becoming something that he has been unconsciously dehumanizing all this time. I wonder how it would impact his mental health.
I could write a fic about it. Sparrow mentioned to Scott that he was pretty good at climbing, too. Just imagine that lad in an absolute nest of web and youâll understand me, chilling there, making a little cocoon for himself when sading, getting distressed when his web gets caught in his machinery
1. Sparrowâs machine Works, and he gets a new origin (feeling pretty shitty)
2. Sparrowâs machine Doesnât Work, Sparrow dies, and then he comes back as a new origin anyways (also feeling pretty shitty, but with a bruised ego this time)
Either way, Iâm gonna have a hell of a time rotating this fella around in my skull

Iâm gonna be honest, Iâve been doing nothing but reading demon slayer fanfiction for the last few days, and I popped in to see how Tumblr was, and I saw this ask, and I was like, âOh, I missed an episode. Time to go watch that!â
And HOLY HELL, HALF AN HOUR???? We have been spoiled, gang. We hold hands with an equal amount of freakout on our faces. Pacing, thinking, gnawing on my nails
Before I go all theory-deary, the MUSIC BRO. OH MY. The music was so fucjing cool!!!!! Cool music, cool visuals, cool tone of voice, EVERYTHING WAS COOL!!!! And the shrieker at the end? AGEJKAKWNDKIWUSBEJWN
Watch Sparrow become Pama from Minecraft Storymode (that giant fucking robot that mind controlled people w/ those redstone button looking contraptions)
This episode was also really heckinâ interesting for other reasons, too
It seems like the Sparrow we know and love has not been as fully integrated into the mechanical thought processes of a copper golem as we thought.
So, the new copper golem body, on a very basic and obviousâthough no less importantâlevel, functions with the same goal as a human body; to keep the body alive.
Second thing I noticed, it seems as if the copper golemâs body functions operate using a proper ai system. An artificial intelligence with a purpose, but still specific wants and needs. However, while a humanâs body cannot think for the human, Sparrowâs bodyâs ai system seems like it can.
While, for humans, if we are hungry, weâourselvesâthink of ways to get food, whether thatâs a trip to the grocery store or an elaborate trap to catch rabbit or dear. For Sparrow, however, when his body requires something that he does not have (ie. Copper for sustenance) it thinks and problem solves on its own, only giving the proper conscience (Sparrow) instructions on how to get what it needs. Itâd be like your body telling you which screws and where for a shelf.
This explains the âpart of me is so unsure, but the other part of me knows exactly what to doâ
It could also explain the âObjective Updatedâ text. The bodyâs AI believes that the conscience (Sparrow) is not willing to put needs over wants, so it influences the conscience (Sparrow) to do so. ie, âdigâ and âbe more efficientâ.
Almost like a parent directing a child. Just, way more controlling lmao
Sparrow was planning to go see people, but he was out of food, so he would have been hungry the whole time. In need of sustenance = not operating at full capability = higher chance of death or failure = worst case scenario.
Then thereâs âBe More Efficientâ
Not fully efficient = wasted energy. Wasted energy = more sustenance consumed to make up for it. More sustenance consumed = less in reserve = more work to get more.
Efficiency is good. It means doing the most work with the least amount of energy possible. Efficiency is optimal. Thatâs why Sparrowâs body wants Sparrow to act with the the utmost efficiency.
Itâs a self defense mechanism employed by Sparrowâs mechanical copper golem body.
Thisâtheoreticallyâcould affect his sense of self, his sense of reasoning, maybe even his independence. Because why would he have to think much if his body has already done it for him? Why would he want to spend his thought energy on making new machines when his body is already working it out for him, feeding him instructions, giving him orders? Hypothetically, probably wonât happen in canon, it would be very interesting if Sparrow created a sort-of codependency on his own body. If someone wrote a fic on that I would implode
Idk if Iâve explained this well or not, but to make up for the four (đđ) days it took to word it well-enough, take these screenshots!
I read The Art of War by Sun Tzu and highlighted the quotes that made me think of New Life Sparrow. This is self indulgent and I cannot explain the joy I felt reading that book
Below the cut are all quotes that remind me of New Life Sparrow, in one way or another, with commentary from me!
Chapter 1 â Laying Plans
âBy means of these seven considerations I can forecast victory or defeat.â
Sparrow would say this really confidently and then immediately get wrecked by a fireball
âHold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.â
Sparrow would reference this quote as he is very actively in disorder. If he actually decided to get serious, Iâd see him using this as a strategy
âIf he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him.â
He would reference this quote, specifically the latter portion, getting chased.
Like, âA famous tactician said that if your opponent is stronger than youâ *explosion* you should probably run!â
Chapter 2 â Waging War
âThus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been associated with long delays.â
âThe skillful soldier does not raise a second levy, neither are his supply-wagons loaded more than twice.â
He forgot the fucking gas. Brother is too forgetful to abide by this quote, but that will not stop him from quoting it
âThis is called, using the conquered foe to augment oneâs own strength.â
Heâd say this over a dead iron golem, or with magma cream in hand
Chapter 3 â Attack by Stratagem
âHence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemyâs resistance without fighting.â
Generally, he doesnât seem to like fighting (people he has deemed of good moral (*cough* the pirates *cough*))
âHe will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.â
Sparrow would totally say this, actively staring at a threat he knows he cannot handle (like a bastion or something. Maybe a boss of some sort) before absolutely booking it
Chapter 4 â Tactical Dispositions
âSun Tzu said: The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.â
âDefeating the enemyâ would be âachieving his aspirationsâ
Pep talk :)
âHence the saying: One may know how to conquer without being able to do it.â
Sparrow would say this to save his wounded pride
Chapter 5 â Energy
âThe quality of decision is like the well-timed swoop of a falcon which enables it to strike and destroy its victim.â
Birds. Birds. Birds. Birds.
Chapter 6 â Weak Points and Strong
âAppear at points which the enemy must hasten to defend; march swiftly to places where you are not expected.â
Sparrow: The element of surprise! *gets knocked down by a spinning machine*
âAn army may march great distances without distress, if it marches through country where the enemy is not.â
âYou can be sure of succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places which are undefended. You can ensure the safety of your defense if you only hold positions that cannot be attacked.â
âIf we do not wish to fight, we can prevent the enemy from engaging us even though the lines of our encampment be merely traced out on the ground. All we need do is to throw something odd and unaccountable in his way.â
Heâd throw a bundle of fish in the water to get a shark to leave him alone, like in raft.
Chapter 7 â Maneuvering
âThus, to take a long and circuitous route, after enticing the enemy out of the way, and though starting after him, to contrive to reach the goal before him, shows knowledge of the artifice of deviation.â
He sort of goofy silly where youâre like âawwww <3â until he says this shit. If he legitimately wanted to do damage I think Sparrow could (either that or heâd be a loony toons villain but shhhh)
Chapter 8 â Variation in Tactics
âThere are roads which must not be followed, armies which must be not attacked, towns which must be besieged, positions which must not be contested, commands of the sovereign which must not be obeyed.â
If a superior told Mr. New Life Sparrow to commit war crimes, Mr. New Life Sparrow would probably desert the army
Chapter 9 â The Army on the March
âThe rising of birds in their flight is the sign of an ambuscade. Startled beasts indicate that a sudden attack is coming.â
Chapter 11 â The Nine Situations
âThe different measures suited to the nine varieties of ground; the expediency of aggressive or defensive tactics; and the fundamental laws of human nature: these are things that must most certainly be studied.â
Chapter 13 â The Use of Spies
âBe subtle! be subtle! and use your spies for every kind of business.â
