Melfi (Basilicata). Nitti's birthplace. The streets towards the castle of Melfi present interesting surprises, including, in Via dei Normanni, the birthplace of Francesco Saverio Nitti (1868 - 1953). Nitti, to whom the city has also dedicated a monument in the municipal park, was a radical-socialist, anti-fascist statesman and a southernist economist of interesting innovative ideas, in whose realization he was repeatedly hindered by unscrupulous politics. Forced to exile by fascist violence, at the end of the regime he was a member of the Constituent Assembly. Along the way we also find: the Ruggero II theater, linked to Melfi as duke of Puglia (1127) and Federico II's grandfather; The Palazzo Pierro of the seventeenth century (formerly the Somaschi convent) and ancient portals like this one, in this case restoration and antiques shop. #nitti #birthplace #melfi #basilicata #normanni #radical #radicales #socialism #antifascist #economist #innovative #hinder #exile #altavilla #pierro #travel #traveling #visiting #instatravel #travelling #tourism #instatraveling #mytravelgram #travelgram #travelingram #massimopistis #sovVERSIvi #ilmiolibro #estremisti #alettieditore Information for the purchase of my new book "Estremisti!": the book at a cost of 12.00 euros (120 pages), can be ordered in bookstores (ISBN 978-88-591-5719-9 - Publisher Aletti) or online on the page http://www.alettieditore.it/emersi/2019/pistis.html from the link below. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Ob_kvi-O_/?igshid=12nd3rn7gssrg
