Shabekuri 007 is a talk an variety television show in Japan with seven high profile comedians. Airing on Nippon TV, the episode from Monday, September 22nd, 2025 at 9:00AM JST featured Asia’s strongest girl group, TWICE! We already knew that Mina was a Tamagotchi fan, but it seem like most of the group is too!

During the show, there was a Tamagotchi feature where all members of the group got to play with their very own Tamagotchi Paradise. They all really seem to enjoy the zoom dial and connecting to each other!

We said it once, and we’ll say it again: Don’t call it a comeback, call it a takeover! Nippon TV, a television broadcasting company in Japan has just recently aired a segment about the social phenomenon taking place in Japan as foreign tourists are purchasing Tamagotchi’s like never before!

News Every is a television program that airs on Nippon TV that features news everyday Monday through Friday! The segment was really interesting. Foreign tourists were interviewed at the Bandai Namco Cross Tokyo Store the opened up back in November 2023 about their attraction to Tamagotchi!

The forge in tourists explained their love for the brand and nostalgia of the toy, their attraction to the unique shell designs, and how they are so happy to see them on shelves from when they were a kid back in the late 1990’s. As people are taking more and more about them, it comes a social phenomenon, you just have to have one!

Prime time! Tamagotchi was just featured on the television show Kintore in Japan on Nippon Television Network. The idol group King & Prince are the main personality of this television program and they try many new things in each episode.

On the episode the aired on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 the idol group King & Prince were competing against A! Group. The question in the quiz was asking what era Tamagotchi was born in. Was it the Showa era or Heisei era? Showa Era refers to post-war Showa around 1926-1989, Heisei refers to the era from 1989-2019, includes the 90’s, culture such as Shibuya fashion, and more. The answer is of course the Heisei era (which includes 1996 when Tamagotchi launched)!

If you’ve been watching the latest comedy on Nippon TV, then you probably caught the Tamagotchi cameo on episode two! Brush Up Life is a television comedy focusing on Kondo Asami, a 33-year-old single woman who lives with her parents and works at the local city hall, and suddenly finds herself starting her life over from scratch. It happens out of a sudden and Asami finds herself on a bed in an obstetrics and gynecology clinic, where she meets her young parents and begins her life all over again.

Tamagotchi appears in episode two, in Asami's elementary school scene along with tile stickers, a Gameboy Advance, an iPod mini, and other nostalgic goodies from the 1990’s. The Tamagotchi featured is the rare white Tamagotchi Original P1. As you can see from the image above, Asami has successfully raised Mametchi.

If you don’t know Erina Hasegawa, well then you definitely need to! She’s a Tamagotchi collector with an impressive collection that she’s invested ¥6,000,000, which is roughly $50,000 USD into. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she’s no stranger to getting a lot of attention for having such a robust Tamagotchi collection with several collectors shells.

Erina was recently interviewed by Gendai Business, and now she’s been featured in yet another, which is actually her ninth interview! The interview was with Nippon TV’s “Hirunandesu!” on October 14, 2022 in Japan. In the two minute clip you’ll see that Erina shows off her collection, including a crystal encrusted Tamagotchi ID-L, and the latest Tamagotchi Smart. Erina’s two children also make an appearance in the video.
