South Asia's largest country, India, has tried hard to keep trusted partners like Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh and the Congress Party in Nepal in power. However, analysts warn that the work carries risks.
Nilanthi Samaranayake, a researcher at the East-West Center in Washington, said that as India developed close and personal ties with these small South Asian countries, there was resentment. Both the opposition and the people remember the issues.
