They knew how long the night was.
They knew the sound life made as it left. It rattled, like a slamming screen door in the wind.
Night workers lived without illusions, they wiped dreams off counters, they loaded freight.
They headed back to the airport for one last fare.

Need some advice Tumblr peeps. I'm going to be moving to Raleigh, NC in Nov and need a job but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Did 3 years if neurology/neurosurgery/med-surg and 6 months of ED. Been on 2nd and 3rd shift all these years. Wa hoping to find something with a schedule that will let me go back to school for my NP. All ideas and suggestions welcome.
"Nothing Is Weird" was written during a night-shift as a State Registered Nurse when the power went off. The carer who was on duty said to me at the time how 'weird' the sensation was with having total silence and only emergency lighting.
I dwelled on the thought and came to the conclusion that the lack of noise wasn't weird as such but merely different. It's a matter of relativity.
I think that people get 'unusual' confused with 'weird.' What's weird to one person is the norm for another. It's dependent on ones' perspective.
Personally, I've never thought of anything as being weird. We may not know it but there is always an explanation for something deemed 'weird.'
