the thing about the jopromotion that always gets me is that it does make logical sense. there's no need for stewards now, the other captain's steward has already decided to be a doctor, and so it makes sense to give jopson another role. and he's always been in or around the room with the lieutenants and the captain, he knows the ins and outs of the role already, etc, it's just a matter of making it formal. BUT, that's not how it feels emotionally for the folks that missed out on their rightful promotion such as des voeux and that's not how it looks to people already disillusioned with crozier. that he promotes his pet steward to lieutenant instead of a man that deserves it. and that fucks me up every time
