Acting impulsively wasn’t exactly new for Nico.  Recording the album was over and he was back home and it felt aggressively lonely without Noelle.  It was one thing to not have her while recording but to be back home and for her not to be in an arm’s reach?  Well, it was unbearable.  It didn’t help that between their schedules talking became more and more sporadic.  They were lucky to squeeze in a few texts and voice memos through the day.  

He tried to keep his restlessness at bay but by the end of the week he had a plane ticket and hotel room booked in the city she was studying in.  A surprise he hoped wouldn’t be too much.  He knew she had a lot on her plate.  

Nico flops onto the hotel bed and pulls out his phone to FaceTime the other, a few moments of anxiety trickle by as he waits for her to answer.  The fear is almost unbearable but then her face fills the screen and any worries are squashed.  “Hey, beautiful.”  

Nico tried to live in the moment as much as possible.  Past regrets and the unknowns of the future made his head spin.  The exception to that was Casper.  They never got to reach their full potential and Nico always wondered how things between them would have panned out if they were simply given the chance to keep exploring the different layers to how they felt about each other.  Except life had other plans and it feels like they were ripped away from each other before given a fair shot.  

Nico was no stranger to the whiplash between blowing up and breaking down when it came to stardom.  He recently needed to take a year out of the spotlight to get his head back on right so he could recognize the pressure the other was facing.  Maybe raging at her team at some industry party wasn’t the best move, but new found stardom was difficult to adapt to.  Sometimes you don’t realize how much you need to blow off steam until it’s too late.  

At his heart NIco was very much a pack animal.  He was adopted into a family of many siblings and to say he thrived around the presence of others was an understatement.  Which is what made the situation he was in that much more frustrating.  His years of running were finally catching up to him and now people were getting hurt.  When he broke through the gates of the underworld as a child and never looked back he should have known one day it would come down to this.  

Nico had long since gotten used to falling asleep on a tour bus.  Well at least as close as anybody to get.  He had to admit the new bus was a major step up from the old van he used to share with the guys.  Not to mention it was nice not worrying about running out of gas on the way to the next show.  That being said the greatest luxury of all was having Noelle with him.  A little piece of home to keep him grounded as his life got a little more crazy every day.
