A watercolour painting I did of Nick Talbot also known as Gravenhurst who suddenly passed away in 2014 just a few days before his Bristol show. His music is beautiful and he also wrote for The Quietus magazine. I did this painting after hearing the news, because I never got the chance to say how much I loved his music.

Snagged this on a whim about a year back, at the closing sale of a local mall's music section, thinking that there was a chance I'd like it. At the time, I was over a long-lasting post-rock phase and it didn't really speak to me upon first listen. Due to that this has only been spun once. However, yesterday I came upon the news of Gravenhurst singer/songwriter/guitarist Nick Talbot passing and dived into the world that he has created. His music is almost always dark and dismal, brooding at all times but sometimes also abruptly growing increasingly threatening (slightly similar to Slint, to draw a comparison), perfectly paired with his vulnerable voice. It's always disheartening to learn of a musician's passing, especially at a young age and it's a shame it took his passing for me to learn of his genius now. Spun this yesterday in memoriam.
