Down Memory Lane
~Memory Fade In~
Darck would regret this forever. There would never be a chance for her to forgive herself, nor Dante to forgive her. She’d dragged this Devil to a hellish town, that stripped them of so many powers. Leaving them was barely enough to tap into.
Silent Hill.
It played upon their fears, played upon insecurities, guilts, pains, memories, everything that could tear them down. And this place could always do it so well… Even to the point, where it had broken Dante down. And that was not pretty to see.
He had broken so badly, he’d first default to rage, anger. Then confusion and questioning himself. Followed by momentary panic… and now…?
Now he was silent, wide eyed and down on his knees. Not making a sound. silent tears falling down the mans face. Staring at the ground as if he had no strength to lift his head. Couldn’t even hold his weapon.
But it was dark out right now. Him sitting in the middle of the street after a particularly vicious moment. This was not safe. The fogged and ashen version was a much safer place. Darck, as broken as she was, visibly shaking and choking on her own emotions, had to protect him. She’d been here before, Dante had not.
Slowly, she slid her dagger and gun back inside her jacket pockets, and grabbed the man’s face. Bringing it up so she could stare down at him. And the expression he had pained her so. Darck shouldn’t have asked him to come with her… She needed someone to cover her back, and he seemed up for the job, hell, practically jumped on it… She should have said no.
"Oh, Dante… I am so sorry." Her voice cracked, but she had to remain strong. Always. Always remain strong.
Carefully, she hoisted him up, letting him use her for leverage. Damn, Dante didn’t even have the will to walk. Darck grunted as she started to move, lacking most of her raw strength here. But, determination and the drive to protect her friend was all the woman needed. Dragging him through the dark. Avoiding the snarling sounds she could hear hiding in the shadows…
Finally, she managed to get to a house. A town home, better than nothing. And kicked the front door open. “Alright… Alright, we can rest here. I’ve got you… Take your time, take what you need too.” Darck muttered softly to Dante, full well knowing he’d need this time to have his break down, to vent. As he was not a man that did so very often.
Carefully as can be, she pulled him into a side room. A guest bedroom from the looks of it. Good, good. Both hands gripped onto the devil’s larger frame, and gently placed him upon the soft surface. “There…” she muttered, hearing him choke back a sob. A frown made it’s way onto her features, softly stroking one hand through his silvery hair. “Easy… Let it go, okay? Don’t hold it back. The town will use it against you.”
With that said, she moved over to the windows, pulling the drapes closed, and shoving a rather heavy wardrobe in the way. Barricading it. She then began to hear scraping, and wheezing…
Darck ran out of the bedroom, slamming it closed, and went to the front door she forgot to close— seeing one of her own horrors there. A disfigures body of a man, wheezing for air. Eyes bright as can be. It has metallic claws, and stumbled with each movement, as if it’s bones were completely broken.
Her core chilled, and she felt guilty weighing her down, slowly pulling out her blade. Had to be strong, had to protect… But she can’t save everyone… She sure as hell was driven to protect Dante while he tries to recalibrate..
And so. Darck protected him. Spilling blood from enemies, and loosing some herself. Covering the room and house. Exhausting every thing she had. For who knows how long, she lost count of time… Until finally the world around them faded back to white. It became quieter, more empty…
Darck entered the room where the devil was left, and collapsed, trying to catch her breath. She needed fresh blood, and the hospital was on the other side of town.
Thankfully, Dante had managed to regain himself. And strode across the room after a few minutes, to help Darck to her feet.
"You… Okay?" She wheezed, head lolling back and forth.
The part devil nodded. “Yeah. Thanks.” He really didn’t want to talk about it. If anything he wanted to forget. “Let’s get you cleaned up and get the hell out of here.”
