Before #corona disrupted all of our lives, Gaurav’s father had very hopefully taken a good sum as a loan to build his family of six, a home in the village. Things started to look very bleak when the family had to shut down their Kirana store temporarily and return to their village in 2020. Disheartened and under a lot of debt, Gaurav and his father with his youngest sister Rishika, returned to Delhi. They had to leave his mother and his #sisters back in the village. Struggling to pay his fees, Gaurav’s Chacha very apprehensively has agreed to pay his fees for this Academic year. “I’m very worried about my study and my sister’s. Chacha has made it clear that he’ll only help us with the fees this year. I’m afraid I’ll lose a year.” Rishika, a very bright student in class 2, suffers from a stomach disorder. Gaurav’s father has to take her to a government hospital in the scorching sun for tests and regular checkups. She has a lot of potential but all of it has been hampered due to corona. She’s unable to attend her online classes because the family only owns a very dilapidated phone. “I owe what I have today to parkshala. If it weren’t for them, I’d be going to a shabby school getting only a moderate education.” Gaurav is hopeful and strives to successfully complete his school without having to lose a year.
