For Earth Day we are sharing a selection of projects by artists at the Front Room Gallery that examine our role and impact on the environment. . Stephen Mallon, Next Stop Atlantic - Photographs from Stephen Mallon's series "Next Stop Atlantic" chronicle the reefing of decommissioned New York subway cars along the East Coast of the United States. Over 2,500 stainless steel cars were cleaned and stripped, after which they were loaded onto barges and dropped into the sea. This recycling program made new use of fleets of New York classic Redbird cars and the Brightliner cars, some of which still operate on the A and C subway lines.
