I'm not allowed to drive anymore. On Thursday morning leaving Lismore, I had a pretty horrific car accident where I slid into the oncoming lane around a corner in fog on a 100km/h country road, glanced off one car and rolled the car by hitting another when I overcorrected. Nobody else was injured, thankfully; but when the car rolled, I sustained a pretty awful crush injury to my (non-dominant!) right hand when the car rolled on it. Big thanks to my godmother Jane, and NexSquad member Lisa for visiting me with her partner Nick, in the hospital right after. With the help of the team at Lismore Base hospital, I was cleaned up by Roland and Shane, (who listened to my pleas not to cut off my #blackmilkclothing haha) and the lovely EMTs Jason and Carl who got me out of the car with jaws of life and drove me up to Gold Coast and Dr Ezekiel Tan, an amazing orthopaedic surgeon with the hand specialist centre here. He's managed to wire my hand up back into something resembling a hand, and has only had to amputate a tiny bit of my pinky in doing so. I'm amazed at his work- instead of Jaime Lannister, I'm just going to be Nine-Fingered Frodo. No word on whether I get a bionic set of joints yet, since that call will come after the bone graft in eight weeks- so still unsure if I'm Luke Skywalker. The Force was definitely with me though, as I'm alive and well otherwise. Sorry to those I hadn't told yet- wanted to wait until my grandma was out of hospital herself for her colonoscopy as stress is an increased infection risk for a 91-yo. Alex and my Mum have been looking after me after flying straight over, and I can't thank them enough. I've also had Skype support from my Dad and Bec, holding down the fort at home. I love you all. ❤️ Greetings from C Block, 6th floor, East Wing, Room 10! . . . . . #hospital #hospitalchic #seamstressonthemove #iamonewiththeforceandtheforceiswithme #graphic #injury #caraccident #imsorry #nexsquad #badreferenceseverywhere (at Gold Coast University Hospital - GCUH)
