New Waves! 2018 Opens in 1 Week! Let’s Dance!
The 8th New Waves! Institute opens in 1 week! This year’s Institute is gathering an incredible group of dance artists from around throughout the Caribbean - Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, Haiti, and Trinidad & Tobago - the US Virgin Islands, and throughout the United States.
Dr. Sheron Wray is this year’s 2018 Scholar-in-Residence. Faculty/Guest Artists will lead three tracks of focus: “Caribbean Futurisms” with Makeda Thomas (Founding Director) and André Zachery (Renegade Performance Group); “Caribbean Dance” with National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica choreographer and University of Wisconsin-Madison professor of dance, Christopher Walker and Haitian dance artist, Jean-Sebastian Duvilaire; “Performance Art' with performance artists Michelle Isava of Venezuela/Trinidad and Sheena Rose of Barbados; and Guest Artist, Dr. Ras Mikey C.
