"Russia is a state of mind" is a hell of a good Polish saying, thanks for telling me about it! I'm also for updating "In Soviet Russia" to "In 90s Russia," because honestly that decade was so insane, on par with most any Soviet decade (obviously not the 30s or 40s tho, but I don't like to joke about those). I've heard Russian people glibly explain weird or terrifying things they've been through (like actually having pet bears) with "well, it was the 90s." Linda got her start in the 90s too...
that 90s russia thing: sounds good. it reminded me of a book ive read - “Gogol w czasach Google’a” (Gogol in the times of Google, idk if its been translated from polish) - its a collection of columns written by polish journalist, who arrived in russia at 90s and still writes from there. they showed russia’s metamorphosis from perestroika times to putins empire in a really interesting way.
