Michael’s heart was pounding in his chest and his breath was stuck in his throat as he stared out from the tight, compact hiding spot he found himself pulled into. Michael had never run from the police before, hell, the’d never done anything illegal outside of break curfew, but the Lost Boys had a way of goading him into the more shit in a single month than he’d ever dared to do in his entire life. He knew his mother could lose her head, might actually yell for once if she found out Michael had willingly broken into a store and helped himself to the merchandise, but all thoughts of guilt and remorse were far, far away. He didn’t feel ashamed - he felt exhilarated. A little shaken up from the arrival of the cops, sure, but his wild eyes and the slight curve of his lips was enough of a sign that he’d found the entire night fun.
Though, he’d have to do better next time. Michael heard the shouts of security along the boardwalk and he froze like a deer in the headlights and took off in what, he assumed, was the wrong direction. He’d most likely have gotten caught if it wasn’t for David noticing the error and swiftly correcting it, catching Michael and tucking the both of them away in the shadows. The others seemed to of run off in what was probably the right direction, no doubt a skill picked up from countless breaking-and-enterings like this.
It’d been awhile since Michael heard the others. Been awhile since he heard the cops, too. He wondered if they gave up the chase or thought they all ran somewhere else. Whatever it was, Michael doubted they were nearby. Still, he knew he was out of his element here. Better to ask, he thought.
So he turns his head.
And find he forgot what he wanted to say.
David was close. Very close. Chests nearly together, probably would be touching if Michael wasn’t so keen on shrinking against the wall in his attempt to hide. It felt warm in their shared hiding spot. He wondered if David thought that too. Michael also wondered if David could hear his heartbeat like he could. He wondered if he could feel it. They were close, after all. David was watching him. Michael wondered how long he’d been keeping his eyes on him. He seemed amused, though Michael couldn’t tell if it was because they’d just run for their lives and he seemed to get a kick out of doing shit like that or because of his own sorry display. He didn’t feel like asking.
Instead, Michael finds himself staring back at David, his eyes locked on his own. They looked nice in the dark, he found himself thinking. He swallows and his mouth opens. He should say something. He should really say something.
He shifts, his hands moving from his sides and onto David’s arms. He should say something. His eyes shift from David’s and down to his lips. Say something. He leans in, eyes shut. His lips press against David’s and he presses him, too, against the back wall. It’s a less soft, less tentative kiss than Michael usually gave, but he blamed it on the adrenaline. He blamed it on David. He always had a way of getting inside his head, pulling out every part of Michael he carefully locked down over the years.
Michael also found out that David had a way of getting inside his heart, too.
𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖞 𝖆𝖑𝖜𝖆𝖞𝖘 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊𝖉 𝖙𝖔 𝖈𝖆𝖚𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖑𝖎𝖙𝖙𝖑𝖊 𝖙𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖇𝖑𝖊, whether it was out of pure boredom, wanting to feel like they were in control again, or just because they could. it was something they had always done and to bring michael into their mess was just proof that they already trusted him and were wanting to show him just how 𝖋𝖚𝖓 a life would be if he was with them. trouble like this just made them all laugh and it was good to see michael just throwing himself, having fun and seeming more free than ever before. but that didn't stop that deer in headlights look on michael's face when the cops showed up. something that they didn't really mention 𝖒𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 happen and what to do if it did, which is why it was no surprise that michael took off in the opposite direction to the others. david wasn't exactly about to leave michael behind, he got him into this, he would make sure to get him out of this.
𝖌𝖗𝖆𝖇𝖇𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖒𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖊𝖑 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖕𝖚𝖑𝖑𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖍𝖎𝖒 𝖎𝖓𝖙𝖔 𝖆 𝖙𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖍𝖎𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖘𝖕𝖔𝖙, knowing the hollering of the others would draw the attention in another direction and if anyone did find them, it wouldn't be like they could see them - david would've made sure of that. but he couldn't deny that he would always enjoy their nights like this. the fun and thrill of doing something that they 𝖘𝖍𝖔𝖚𝖑𝖉𝖓'𝖙 and bringing michael along for the ride, seeing how much he was willing to throw himself into it. as much as he was pushed towards michael, david couldn't help but think about how much he wanted to be around him, how much he wanted him to be a part of this and it was far more than just having him join their 𝖋𝖆𝖒𝖎𝖑𝖞. but he wasn't quite sure what it was, or whether he wanted to openly admit to himself that he felt something for michael that he wasn't quite sure what. an curiosity that he hadn't felt in a while.
𝖍𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖚𝖑𝖉𝖓'𝖙 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖕 𝖇𝖚𝖙 𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖐 𝖆𝖙 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗, watching the way his chest rose and fell, the closeness between them, they were practically up against one another and the quiet made it obvious how hard michael's heart was racing. it was 𝖎𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖝𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖌. david couldn't look away from him, unsure of what was going to happen next, knowing that one of them would have to move first and he highly doubted he would move away first. it was consistently about pushing michael. it always had been. seeing how far he was willing to go and every time david thinks he may have pushed him to his limit, michael proves that he's willing to take another step and show how 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌 he really is.
𝖜𝖍𝖊𝖓 𝖒𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖊𝖑 𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖐𝖘 𝖇𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝖆𝖙 𝖍𝖎𝖒, david knows he's smiling. probably looking a little smug because he knew he could keep pushing him and michael would keep coming back. but the look in his eyes right now, he couldn't read him and until this point, he had thought that michael was pretty easy to figure out what he was thinking. but right now he had no idea what was going through his head and that was exciting. 𝖆𝖑𝖜𝖆𝖞𝖘 𝖋𝖚𝖑𝖑 𝖔𝖋 𝖘𝖚𝖗𝖕𝖗𝖎𝖘𝖊𝖘. he feels michael's hands on his arms and before he can say anything, michael was kissing him, pushing him up against the wall. david groans softly, hands moving to grip the other's jacket and pulling him closer if that was even possible. it was rough and intense, different from the kisses he had been used to and it drove him insane. he wanted more and he knew he wouldn't be the first one to pull away.
