Just got home from a session zero/character building party for a Fairy Tail-inspired guild-based 5e game I'm going to be running, and I am incredibly exhausted but equally exhilarated. I have always wanted to DM, it's just never worked out before. Still a little nervous about it, but after tonight I think I have the right group for the first time round for me.
We have two brand new players in this group and I was worried they might be overwhelmed, but they got super into it once they started building. They made a fantastic half-elf ranger and halfling druid and seeing how excited they got about their characters is so very gratifying and surprisingly humbling.
I am delighted and can't wait to see what they do with the ridiculous world I'm going to drop them in! Probably nothing I am prepared for, but what the hell? Roll the dice!
