Dear Ben,

First of all, have a fantastic birthday! I do hope that you’re enjoying yourself on this special day. Us fans of yours from all over the world are celebrating your birthday as well. Have a good day, and have fun! You deserve it!

I have to admit, you’re one of my favourite actors, although it’s only fairly recent that I was able to get the privilege of calling myself a fan. Through your roles as Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One and Danny Rayburn in Bloodline, you have enthralled me (as well as probably gazillions of other people as well) with your extraordinary performance. I also adore your other roles, such as Pope in Animal Kingdom, and Gerry in Mississippi Grind. I admire the way you play your characters, and through interviews and what other people have said of you I was able to get a glimpse of your awesome personality. (Also, you’re a fan of Star Wars, 90s hip hop, and video games? That’s a 10/10 in my book.)

The fact that you are Australian and from Melbourne is also another reason why I’m a huge fan of yours, as Melbourne is my second home! I’ve lived in numerous places - such as my home country Indonesia, and currently Canada - but the charm and beauty of the city (as well as how you’ve also once mentioned that it was where the very first feature film was shot 😊) captivated me, just as you’ve captivated me, and I’m proud to call it my second home.

As my mother would often have work in Australia, I spent a lot of my time alone at home in Melbourne (Parkville, actually) and would often watch television. Seeing you in Rogue One made me go, “Woah! It’s that bloke I saw on telly when I was in Melbourne! Nice!” and well, that led to me watching your other work in numerous other films and television shows. So, here I am! A fan of yours.

I look forward to seeing your future projects!Especially Robin Hood, a childhood favourite of mine. Plus, I’ve always liked the Sheriff of Nottingham so seeing you on that role is a treat. Keep doing what you’re doing! We love and support you, and know that what you’re doing brings so many people pure joy.

Yeah I get some concept vibes from the picture, which makes me even more glad that wasn’t the final Ben. I know it’s not the right style, but Ben has ‘friendly ;) sideburns’ as far as I’m concerned. Really completes his look.

Yeah I didn’t either, I wonder if like Rogue the NPChelp were going to fight alongside us but they cut it out or didn’t get around to finishing it. That’s the only time I see Ben w/ an axe it’s baffling

It’s a somewhat different vibe than BF or the previous games in mood & story imo. Idk if you’ve ever played anything like Skyrim, Dragon Age Inquisition, or Witcher 2/3, but it reminds me of those games more in some respects for gameplay than older AC games. Don’t get me wrong, Odyssey and the previous AC games share the base verse lore + history, but Odyssey’s map is huge and sprawling with a lot of empty space. I’m sure its map is larger than the other games because there’s a lot of that space.

I’ve seen people compare Odyssey to Origins a lot and say it improves upon Origins, so if you like that one, I’d definitely buy. Alas, I didn’t play Origins yet…

If you like Ancient Greece along with that aesthetic, I’d get it. For that alone, it’s pretty impressive, but I have yet to find any armor I really like outside of the one on the MCs in all the trailers. It seems like the other good looking armors are late game content drops or you can BUY THEM!!! 

The Assassin climbing is there though and the ship/sea combat is like BF’s, but there’s fewer mechanics and wind direction doesn’t even matter anymore ( LOL ). Getting lieutenants and recruiting them is fun, but kind of makes me wistful we didn’t have that for BF.

Assassinating isn’t as easy now because they put RPG type progression system into the game so you have to unlock junk. Mat farming ‘fun’, etc for weapon and armor improvement. I think more so than we had for BF. The bow/sword mechanic seems straight outta Shadow of Mordor, along with the mercenaries. 

There aren’t assassination corridors yet from what I’ve seen and there are so many sidequests I don’t know if the story will be as focused as BF’s was. I doubt it since they’re going the RPG route now. The ‘RPG’ and choice is negligible as most of these rpgs. 

For the record, until I see otherwise, character designs besides the MCs are way more interesting to look at in the older games. Pirates seem like nothing but enemies so far and there’s not much going on with the sea beside Athens vs Sparta. Music is great but some of the shanties are lame imo >>

It really looks like BF with better graphics but I’m not digging the Black Sails art direction with the ships and characters. I hope they inject back some BF aesthetic or dlcs or whatever (I think that Ubi division did a lot of work on BF..

If it’s still Madagascar/Indian Ocean piracy like I remember I’m excited about that, there’s a lot of untapped potential there to tell a good story (and have some other famous faces show up). I hope Saint Mary’s Island and Reunion Island are major locations too.

I really like anything sea/ocean related! Sailing around in BF is one of the best parts of it for me.

A char creator would be a godsend - I don’t want to look like Budget Flint in the trailer, so as long as there’s a captain maker and I can make my own, Ben, Thatch, Woody, etc, that’s great (ngl this costume would look good on Ben w/ a color swap...the costumes are OK but they look colorwashed like BS, BF is like the opposite in some respects)
