So, uh, reading he turns the page (let the flesh submit itself to gravity) and Ashes I got plot bunnies and they turned into plot brainworms within a day or two and so I set up this file today, the tag list is still in progress and I have not uploaded any of this WIP over on my AO3 yet.
I already know how I will go about this, I will essentially be writing two seperate fanfics, one where Gerry went back in time and disconnected from that one where Jon went back in time.
I already wrote each prologue so I technically can go online with it but I don’t want to unless I have some substance behind it already
I was last active in the TMA fandom in early 2022 but I never wrote a canon-divergence or a canon fix-it for The Magnus Archives
And now I’m set out to essentially write two fix-its conflated into one. I know it’s ambitious but I just hope I can do what I intend and keep the narrative unreliable in the sense that Jon’s parts don’t touch on Gerry knowing about the future and simultaneously Gerry’s parts don’t touch on Jon knowing about the future.
Essentially my premise is they both have their life experience and knowledge from MAG 111 / MAG 200 and hence are highly competent. (Which, let’s be honest, is already in Gerry’s characterisation. That competence is smexy, it’s Jon getting the upgrade so to speak.)
But! True to character, high competence doesn’t prevent idiocity because hijinks must ensue with such a potentially comedic set-up.
