Can I have a fun fact about the filioque or is that illegal
[digging through the Fun Fact box] Uh... that's an odd request, but as far as I know, it's not illegal? Today You Learned that Saint Thomas Aquinas addressed the Filioque in his writing, I guess?
I mean, if you know the guy at all, you're probably not surprised. The man had Thoughts on, like, everything. But in Question 36 of the Summa Theologiae (mostly, Article 2), he raises all the objections about the theology of the matter and the inclusion of it in the Creed. The Greek Orthodox, as you probably know, don't include the Filioque in their version of the Nicene Creed because it wasn't added until after the Council of Nicaea, but later. Thomas has a reply to that point--mostly, that adding clarification is to something in the creed is just fine.
