unprompted. / @never-refrain​​ ( "You know ... sometimes I get really jealous of you.." Aubrey spoke quietly, her drink in hand as she sat on the roof of the building that Shuni had decided to occupy with her. She had been alone until then ... ) 

the fuck ? when they came onto the roof they weren’t expecting to get hit with that. suddenly their plan of scaring her by pushing her just a little was gone from their mind. “ jealous ? -- oh i get it  , yeah it’s fucking competition to be the pretty fucking one in the family. but hey, someone has gotta do it. ” they snickered. trying to play off her words as they always have. the idea that aubrey, the perfect child, was jealous of a slime ass like shuni ? it seemed out of proportion. if anyone should be jealous , it should be the other way around.

    “ we’re gonna fall out. ” he warned, holding their balance by placing a foot on the ground outside of the hammock. he didn’t have any trust in this thing. it was a new one  and obviously he wasn’t too trust of it. not until aubrey gave him some persuading, making him pull her closer against his chest. “ if we fall...” he sighed, before lifting his foot properly into the hammock.

ozemir never got used to daichi’s ... theatrics or his .. overzealous, dramatic style. you’d think coming over a few times in the past for christmases was enough to get used to it. it never was. the bright lights, the overpowering smell of pine. there was much more he could complain about. one thing, he wouldn’t ever complain over were the secret mistletoes around the place. they were in the same places every year and really only made the time spend here a bit more enjoyable. 

he was walking around now with aubrey, purposely walking towards one of them now as he listened to her talk. it wasn’t that he needed a reason to kiss her. it’s just that he knew one was right there. it was as soon as they came closer to it, he came to a slow stop to make it seem more natural. “ ... mistletoe ..” he muttered. not even looking towards it, only looking at aubrey as he announced it. a small smile grew on his face when she realized it was there -- she probably had the same idea as he did. knowing how sneaky she could be. 

Ash wasn’t the best at this night time story thing. The last time he did it was ages ago when Blue was young. And those stories... Well they were probably the kind to give Aubrey nightmares. So as he tries his hardest to spin a tale of a friendly dragon and a rude frog prince he doesn’t think he’s doing so well. When he finishes, he’s about to say goodnight, close the door and walk away. But her small voice breaks through the darkness of her room and he looks back. 

“I won’t fit in your bed.” He counters at first, but he can practically hear her begging him already. He gives a gentle sigh and walks back into the room. He comes to sit beside her bed, tall enough that his head and most of his torso is above her mattress. He smiles over at her. “Just until you fall asleep.”

“Small and playful. Though I worry that she has a lack of understanding of danger. She takes after her mother with her kindness and desire to right the wrongs of the world, but I worry what will happen when she realizes she cannot fix everything. 

“It’s wrong of me to see her as fragile but I do. I don’t want reality to crush her.”

“Am I–– Uhhh––” Ash looks up and around, thankful that Emma didn’t appear to be anywhere in sight. She had left to grab some groceries for them, and so Ash was left here to watch Aubrey. They’d begun molding play-dough into various shapes. Ash was no good at it. His hands were too warm and made the putty very soft in his hands. But he still tried. 

“I don’t know.” He admits, honestly. He tries to form a small snake like creature between his large hands. “What does love mean to you?”
