Definition: Neurowiry describes "non-official" neurotypes*. (Non-official meaning it is not in the DSM & it hasn’t been studied.) Individual terms within neurowiry are called wiretypes and have the suffix “-typen”. A person with a wiretype may be called “neurowired”.

What Neurowiry IS: Wiretypes are broad categories that explain and inform a person’s psyche and development. They are expressed metaphorically through dynamics (predator/prey/lover/rebel/etc), things in nature (leaves/fog/beasts/planets/etc), forces (gravity/heat/etc) and so on. They encourage recognition and labeling of patterns within oneself. They are self-identities and not recommended for people under 16.

What Neurowiry is NOT: While this concept was born from MOGAI tumblr, these are NOT genders/orientations (though those components can be contained within the wiretype). Wiretypes are NOT kintypes, and a neurowired person might not be otherkin/fictionkin at all; a person with a fog-based wiretype, for instance, does not necessarily identify as/with fog but uses it as a metaphor for their neurotype. Wiretypes CANNOT be transient/culture-specific things like fictional characters, websites, memes, etc.

*“Neurotype” is a contested term in psychology, but a general definition is “a type of brain that is different from the neurotypical norm, which is not necessarily unhealthy but defines every aspect of the person’s cognition, behavior, personality, etc.” Autism is a neurotype. ADHD and schizo-spectrum disorders may also be considered neurotypes.

A Wiretype identity where you define your brain as being like a frog. May be that you think in a frog-like manner or that your brain functions in a similar way to a frog (e.g. hopping from thought to thought)

Lupitypen

A Wiretype identity where you define your brain as being like a wolf. May be that you think in a lupine manner or that your brain functions in a similar way to a wolf. May be considered a subtype of Predatypen

for anon! here’s a carrd about neurowiry/wiretypes, which is where i got the flag template from. both flags use foggy colors, with the fogshinetypen flag also using sunny colors!

flag id: two flags in the same format. there are thick vertical stripes along the very left and very right sides of the flags, and thinner horizontal stripes of the same color extend from just above and just below the middle of each outer stripe to near the middle of the flag. there are thin horizontal stripes at the very top and very bottom of the flags which only extend along roughly the center half of the full flag. a single thin vertical stripe extends between the top and bottom stripes. a horizontal stripe of the same length crosses the center of the flag, creating a ‘+’/plus sign with the long vertical center stripe. the background behind all of these stripes is a single color on each flag.

the flag on the left has a dark silver background, dark grey left and right edges/extending stripes, silver top and bottom stripes, and a grey-white plus sign. the flag on the right has a silver background, dark silver left and right edges/extending stripes, soft gold top and bottom stripes, and a light yellow plus sign. end id.
