He could still remember the last time he had seen her, sleeping peacefully in the bed in that motel room, a small smile on her face. He had slipped away that night, left her there, and never expected to see her again. And now she was standing there before him, staring at him. "What are you doing here?" she hissed. "I live here," he said, unable to think of anything else to say. "Where have you been all these years, John?" "Working." "Is that what you call it?" She smiled bitterly. "Sharon, I am so sorry." "Then why did you leave that night?" He sighed. How could he explain? He spread his hands. "I would have stayed. If you'd asked, I would've stayed." She raised her eyebrows, but said nothing. Natasha whirled over in a colorful flash of skirts and slipped her arm casually through John's. "There you are! Come on, they have grilled cheese!" She tugged at him. John stayed rooted to the spot for a moment, watching Sharon's face turn to stone. "It was good to see you again, John," she said stiffly. "Enjoy the rest of the party." "Sharon, " he croaked. She walked away. Natasha squeezed John's arm lightly. "Come on! Grilled cheese!" "You go," he said vaguely. "I'm...not feeling good. Migraine coming, I think. I need to go home." "Okay. I'll see you tomorrow, then." She kissed his cheek lightly and let go of him, skipping off toward the promise of grilled cheese sandwiches. John made his way out into the cool evening darkness and headed for home. This was why you didn't break that rule about not getting close to clients. It always ended badly. Sometimes you just didn't see the effects until years later. --- I have still never played with John, or any of the Desiderata sims, so this prompt threw me for a loop for a little bit, but I think it worked out in the end. Let me know what you thought! Thanks, @nestadaughter, for the prompt. I've missed doing things like this. I have a couple more that I will try to work on soon. For the record, you can ask for a prompt for one Sim or a couple. :)
