He smells her perfume, sickeningly sweet and overwhelming, before she even makes her presence known. The jingle of her silver and rustle of her fabrics, tell-tale signs of the dark witch’s approach. A beautiful enchantress she is, The numerous men and women alike that had fallen under her spell and met their demise all too soon before their lives could truly begin were evident of that. Many have come to fear her and perhaps rightfully so, the Warrior knows a capable foe when he sees them. 

But it mattered not, for she still is a foe all the same.

And all the Warrior sees is a woman who lives in delusion. 

She’s in front of him now, having appeared in the seconds between each blink, her red eyes – haunting in their beauty, the dark of the Chaos Shrine painting them a deep crimson, locked onto his own of forget-me-not, still brilliant despite the threat of being swallowed whole in the wake of the darkness. 

Her playful glee did naught to stir the sterling knight, who stood still and defiantly as the witch made herself closer, invading his space and what seems to be a silent hope she would get a rise out of him. However, the Warrior will give her no such victory. 

“Let me pass, Fina.” 

The Warrior speaks, his voice – stern and unflinching, resonating within the once hallowed halls of the forsaken shrine, the ancient pillars seemingly tremble at the majesty of the Warrior of Light’s voice. She did not move the inch, and continued to remain within his view, blocking his way – her honey-sweet candance merely a divergence from his actual goal, to meet with her lord and master, Garland.

“I have no quarrel nor business with you, step aside.” 

He does not wish to begin a battle when it was not on the forefront of his being here – he only wished to converse with Garland. To keep the delicate peace that had fallen upon both sides for the time being, the Warrior will stay his blade.

However, he only hopes that Fina does not mistake his desire for peace for passivity.

Inconspicuous, the letter is, waiting to be opened as if it had been there for a while but, truly, having appeared recently, out of nowhere. The remnants of Hyles, his gentle touch against it, his smell, are new. The ink he brushed the words with still fresh... It is the right moment to read the contents.

Happy Valentine's Day.

I am way past that day, you say? Well, we were never ones to be conventional, were we? Rather than celebrating such a day, I am here to hand you the death of February in a silver platter for us to feast upon.

Let us celebrate its end, and more ends to come.

Yes, I have prepared an evening you will enjoy on this very day. Dinner and an offering of your choice, so you receive concrete proof that my adoration knows no bounds.

"I wasn't meaning to imply anything..." She added as she began to guard herself. She may not know how to fight, but she figured she could get a good hit in before running if needed.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤNOCTIS   ADORES   HER.       doesn't   know   if   it's   love   or   limerence,   or   something   else   in   between.       when   fina   asks   &   he's   able,   he   manages.       his   first   ballet   was   an   except   of   la   mort   d'une   étoile,   a   harmless   portrayal   (   although   he   can't   forget   the   unsettle   &   unease   that   burrowed   itself   in   the   pit   of   his   stomach,   the   prop   crystal   from   which   the   principle   ballerina   unraveled   herself   from,   the   orchestral   hum   that   borrowed   his   name.   )       &   although   he   hadn't   been   fond   of   it   at   the   time,   it's   something   he's   grown   into   —   not   quite   a   patron   of   the   arts,   but   close   enough.       it   helps   that   it's   her   dancing,   elegant   little   starlet   clad   in   chiffon   &   glitter,   glamorized   constellations   across   her   skin,   pretty   shimmered   cheeks.       '   of   course   i   came.   '       he's   gentle   despite   everything,   soft - spoken.       not   quite   the   king   of   light,   but   close   enough.       he   leans   down.   kisses   the   side   of   her   neck   to   not   smudge   her   make-up,   tenderly   then   with   teeth.       '   i'd   give   you   anything   you   asked   for.   '       his   hands   slide   down   to   her   waist.       '   after   all,   you're   playing   your   part   perfectly,   fina.   '

I thought about this long and hard (you think it’d be an easy answer considering most of my icons and some of the graphics on my blog), but probably her green hair. I first played ff.1 on the psp and her sprite appearance in that release has her with green hair. That’s the one I’m most familiar with and I’m biased towards. 🙊 It’s also, imo, probably the best re-release of ff.1 since it has all of the gba content and then new content on top of that. It’s also the way I played f.f2… 💀 BUT!!! I’m okay with all her other hair colors - the reddish hair she has in the nes (which I thiiiiiink is the same as mob.ius), her pink in all her other appearances (which I think is based on her appearance on the cover art for f.f1), the aquamarine/tealish??? color from the original mobile release of ff.1 (which I think is because of an alt. Art of her and the Wo.L) , and then her blonde hair in S.oP / the manga!

I tend to write her with green hair unless it’s verse specific or something or I have a whimsy 🧚🌟 to write her with one of her other hair colors. Like in my sleeping beauty au, she has blonde hair but then in one of my f.f9 verses she has purple hair because of heacanons. Then sometimes I’m just weird and I like her with silver hair cuz of some editing I’ve done for icons. 💀 I also have spent too much time editing icons with the pink , green , and blonde and I think some with the red. 💀 And then idk what consumed me , but I edited a bunch of my S.oP and Wo.FF icons so her appearance resembles her Wonderswan/PS1/GBA/PSP appearance. 💀 So don’t be surprised if you see me using icons of her with different hair colors. Also cuz I don’t have a computer right now to finish editing some of them with her GBA appearance like my Wo.FF icons. 💀

I know Mo.bius depending on the FF collab outfits you can equip her with, her in-game model hair will change. I think it might’ve been a toggle too ‘cuz of some screenshots I’ve seen??? But when she’s wearing the Y.uffie outfit she has black hair and then the Se.rah Fa.rron one she has pink hair again. I think with Te.rra and Rik.ku, she has her default hair. I think sq.uare is probably just going to stick to her pink hair though because of her newest unit + vision card in ff.be and then they changed her sprite appearance in the pixel remaster. I haven’t seen any new content outside of So.P with her blonde hair and I think that one was probably inspired by her nes sprite (maybe cosmos too idk) because Jack with his G.arland armor (no helmet) resembles his nes sprite, Neon in her red mage outfit resembles the red mage sprite (even in sarah’s new vision card the red mage resembles neon to me), and then they went back to orbs from the original release, the flying fortress is a space station again and I think there were a few other things that made me think of the nes version but I don’t remember. 😔 A tangent though but I think As.tos’s new design and role was imo probably inspired by Sorg.ue in ff.d2, and then Mi.a resembling her father is probably because of her sprite appearance in the original mobile release where she has the same hair color as her dad and then Sarah shares a similar hair color with their mom. Okay big tangent over.

In his deer form, the forest spoke to him in pressure and scent and the minute disturbances of life out of place. The witch’s magic hung in the air like burnt honey as it clung to bark and moss. He lowered his head as he moved, antlers threading cleanly between branches, each step placed with a hunter’s precision. Valtor paused where the soil had been scuffed with shallow prints leading deeper into the forest.

Moonlight slid over his hide as he crossed a stream, water closing silently around his legs. The current carried her scent downstream, but he ignored the trick, angling instead toward the denser trees where the air grew thick with gathered power. Antlers brushed past hanging lichen, never tangling, never slowing. The forest bent subtly around him, branches shifting, roots easing aside.

Valtor slowed to a glide, savoring the last stretch of the search as the witch was close enough now that he could sense her magic humming in the air. Slowly, the stag wandered into a cottage and paused just outside the gates, staring past the magical barrier he had not crossed.

Sweet, sweet butterfly, fluttering wings in the dark.

The dark is to sit quietly, watching people speak on and on about things they don't quite understand. Who else but scientists like them actually know how blood cells work, how SOLDIERs truly work?

For the love of it did he listen to them go on and on, from the outside of the amphitheater. A small smile had crept up with every small error, with every wonder... Until Fina's voice brings him back.

Come to think of it, standing there, listening to people speak ad nauseam was boring in itself. It should be, anyway. Slow, he turned over to look at her. Sweet, sweet butterfly.

Chamber doors slam shut behind him and a hush fell over the room, the usual evening commotion instantly veiled by iron doors. Pure darkness welcomed the new leader home like a sweet embrace; one he longingly fell into every night. When Clive stepped into his quarters, each creak of the floorboards was a friendly voice, guiding him through the thick shadows. He easily found his destination: the table, a glass and bottle exactly where he had left them the night before, a candlestick the centerpiece. With a snap of his finger, the new Cid calls upon his inner ember to set the wick aflame, and pours himself a cup of indulgence. In truth, the only one he had planned for this night.

Those intentions vanished in a plume of scarlet.

Clive thought his eyes had mistaken the figure cloaked in darkness; a conjuring of a lonely man. Swiftly proven wrong, the warrior bolts to his feet, alarm guiding his hand to the hilt of his blade. ❛ Who are you ? What do you want ? ❜ snaps Clive, tense muscles eager to draw his defense. The glisten of fangs in candlelight should have encouraged his hand, the woman's bright eyes emanating danger. Yet, the man is stayed; aching solitude willing to entertain her approach.

❛ What are you -- ❜ The whispered words die on his tongue as the strange maiden draws near, the answer found in her ravenous gaze. In that moment, Clive wanted nothing more than to enable that hunger; the beating of his racing heart deafening the warnings of his mind. Her sweet kiss only further numbing his intuition. Desire ignites his veins, and he leans further into the strangers fleeting touch; greedily absorbing the morsel of affection. Feminine claws tore the chinks in his defense, any sense of danger depleting into her warmth. Once her lips depart, the man leans in for more, left breathless and wanting as the maiden casts him a smile.

❛ Wait. ❜ Clive hastens toward the maiden, his beckon left to the shadows, as if nothing had happened at all. Mind reeling, he is left to bake in his shame; how easily he had succumbed to a strangers charm. That is, if it had happened at all.
