So I got asked out at a MTG event.
I went to a casual commander get together for the first time at a LGS, and had a lot of fun. When I was packing to go home a guy came up to me and asked if I was seeing anybody. I said thank you, I’m flattered but yes I am. Then I told him I had a really good time and hoped to see him again the next week. He said okay and he enjoyed meeting me too and hoped I came back.
So...guys, I know this story is a little boring. But I’m telling it to demonstrate a few things. First, asking someone out is not a bad or embarrassing thing to do. I really appreciated that he was clear and didn’t try to dance around the subject like I’ve had happen before. I’m pretty oblivious, I need you to be clear lol. But second, when turned down, he was nice and polite. He said all right, he demonstrated that he would not stop being nice to me after this, and we both went on with our days without drama or hurt.
This is the way to do it. Guys, especially nerd guys, I know that it’s embarrassing to be turned down. But the best way to get more women to go to nerd events is to be nice and welcoming to them. If this guy had been rude or pushy, I wouldn’t want to go back to an event with him. That’s how women get driven out of MTG. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you to this guy for being exactly the kind of person this community needs.

I think I got swept into an argument I didn't want to be a part of on Facebook. The guy first of all said that Jason sucked and then was like Tim is the best.
