i dont think that 2nd neopia studio pic is intended to be actual kayla. the scene is like a bunch of friends, regular neopets, around a game table. so that's a regular red zafara cosplaying kayla. it's more obvious with the blue blumaroo, who is wearing a regular shirt and tie under a count von roo costume cape.
i had to remember this was about " neopia studio " for a second and i never actually played that , nor have i looked into the files for dialogue or anything ( might do sometime ? ) , but the way this is phrased is making Count Boris not seem like an actual character .
regardless of if they 're actually the champions of meridell kids or just people playing as them , i cant gather evidence of at the moment , so that could not be kayla -- but in that post , i was mostly pointing out the unfinishedness of her appearance in the banner anyways

point is , the aisha , zafara , blumaroo , and quiggle all represent , or are the actual meridell kids from the Champions of Meridell / Battle for Meridell plots .
i guess one could somehow argue they dont actually exist in modern time because they went back 200 ( ? ) years ago , but characters like lisha and jeran have been depicted in modern plots ( the void within being the most recent ) , and not to mention kayla has her own shop in the meridell castle .
that 's just my take on this though . finding gameplay that shows these characters has proven brutal ( any smudge of neopia studio gameplay is hard to find really ) , nor am i sure if they were even in the beta , or were simply planned for an event that never got executed .
if you have more to add or clarify , you can totally send me another ask . i love to learn about this kind of stuff , its a bit niche and i see why it didnt garner much love but that wont stop me from discussing about the remnants of what remains .
