Dogwood 52 Week Photography Project 2017 Week 7: Story - Forgotten 35mm ; 1/250sec ; f/11 ; ISO 800 Neist Point, Isle of Skye, Scotland ©2017 A viewpoint on the most westerly point of Duirinish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. Built in 1900 it's been there since 1909 when the light was first exhibited, updated in time was converted to automatic operation in 1990, meaning it doesn't require daily maintenance, and the lightkeepers withdrawn. In 2002 a former owner of the lighthouse cottages installed a toll booth at the Neist Point car park and began charging for access to the point. After a concerted campaign by locals the illegal charging stopped and the cottages were sold. Nest point was used as the dramatic settings for a number of scenes in a couple of movies (Breaking the Waves, 1996 and 47 Ronin, 2012). The Keepers cottages and residence around the lighthouse are privately owned. It hasn't been used for many years and is derelict and abandoned. In one way I think the fact that it is abandoned and trashed makes you love it even more. It is beautiful. #dogwood52 #dogwoodweek7 #dogwood2017 #nikon #nikon📷 #nikonphotography #nikonphoto #photo #photography #photographer #landscape #nature #naturephotography #natureza #skye #neistpoint #neistpointlighthouse #neistpointskye #isleofskye #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography #photooftheday #photooftheweek #photoofthemonth #jornalistasdeimagens (at Neist Point)
