Punished for not playing his part, Sans is ostracized from "civil" society and as such is forced to kill to get what he wants. In not playing along he is forced into the very person he chooses to not respect. After his banishment, Sans becomes a target by the underground's military. Yet he still persists. Without anyone able to overpower him, Sans becomes the head of the very system he despises he became what he killed. Violence breeds violence, hatred breeds hatred. And in his wish to be left alone he has destroyed the very people that wanted him dead.
