no mercy
I reblogged your meta before about Katsuki, and I'm seeing new stuff from you that's really nice, and nuanced, but that also just confuses me. Why are you able to say all these things about Bakugo and his home life that people are erasing, but are still afraid to use the a-word between him and Deku? To me it seemed so incredibly obvious what happened was peer abuse; it's different form Katsuki and MItsuki yes, but it's still a facet worth exploring, I think.
When it comes to katsuki and Izukuâs relationship, I avoid that word because I donât really see Izukuâs issues as completely Katsukiâs fault, but it feels like  all youâre looking for is for me to use the word âabusiveâ to describe their relationship and thatâs just not how I feel.
Iâm not blind and/ or dumb - most of the behavior that Katsuki displayed when it comes to Izuku was extremely uncalled for.Â
Katsuki exhibits behavior thatâs inexcusable and I believe Iâve said that before.Â
Multiple times.  Â
The trick about their relationship is that people like to paint the picture that Bakugou beat Izuku for the last 10 years and act like Bakugou was up in Izukuâs face 24/7 telling him how worthless he was, when in fact that was not the case.Â
As Iâve written about.Â
Multiple times. Â
Bakugou hauling off and telling Izuku to kill himself, while horrible in nature and abusive in words, was still a one time thing - itâs not his normal behavior. Â
As his current set of friends even went so far to point out:
The entire point of the things Iâve written have been to show that there is so much more to their relationship than the crude picture thatâs painted on the outside of the box.Â
That scene, that happened in the final exam, where Bakugou pins Izuku against the wall with one arm after letting off an explosion?Â
That scene really pisses me off. Why? Itâs anime only. It doesnât exist in the manga; it doesnât exist in Hirokoshiâs original vision.
The other point that I try to make when talking about Katsuki and Izukuâs relationship is that Izuku has never allowed himself to be a âvictimâ.Â
Literally the very first line of the entire series is Izuku talking back to Katsuki and showing defiance to his actions.Â
Izuku has been willing to fight back against Katsukiâs bullshit since they were four years old. Izuku has punched Katsuki in the face out of anger during the final exam. Izuku talks back to Katsuki and is not afraid to do things to defy him.Â
Izuku was quirkless, not less than Katsuki and itâs part of why Katsuki was always pissed off.Â
The kids in their school growing up are more at fault for abuse than Katsuki is and I will stand by that. The kids that laughed at his dreams and doubted his ambitions, the teachers that ever stepped up and the adults that doubted him.Â
Katsuki was an aggressive little boy and Izukuâs nature made him a shy now. Just because Izuku is shy doesnât make him a victim, it makes him non-confrontational.Â
Iâm not saying their relationship is healthy, nor have I ever. Itâs improving and nothing more.Â
What Bakugou has experienced is different from what Izuku experienced. Izukuâs abuse is from a world that deemed him useless based solely on the value of his quirk (or lack there of) to society. Izukuâs abuse comes from an absentee father and a world that wasnât even willing to give him the chance to try.Â
Katsuki is a small, tiny part of that puzzle and honestly Iâm sick and tired of everyone placing the entire blame on Bakugou and refuses to look at the entire picture.Â
Bakugou and Izuku have had many interactions where no fighting is even present WITHIN THE TEN YEARS they were children.Â
We have been presented with a strained relationship by the manga; not a violent one. We have been presented the âgifted genius and helpless underdogâ trope over and over and this one is only so much different from that last.Â
The creator keeps introducing Katsuki as Izukuâs friend:Â
Katsuki is an asshole. I wonât ever deny this. He is, he was, and probably always will be.Â
He gave Izuku shit, and I wonât ever say that was the right thing for him to do, but as heâs previously said in the manga, he was always trying to get Izuku to stop following him. Â
Never does he say that he went out of his way to make Izukuâs life hell.Â
Please donât tell me that post means what I think it means
if this is about the reigen post, i got a couple of other worried messages over it already asjakjkasjksaj
but donât worry, itâs not that deep. at least as of now, they didnât give him a gf or anything, itâs just... a couple of questionable interactions heâs had with some of his female clients that kind of weird

what the fuck is this person on
'My fav did nothing wrongâ juice. More seriously I think a lot of people donât understand what abuse is but then talk with authority and lecture others because they see it as a black and white issue where if you describe an action as abusive it is the equivalent of calling it âevilâ. Replace most of these discussions with âbut so and so isnât evilâ and where theyâre coming from makes more sense. Being abusive is being tied to redeemability when the two are not necessarily intertwined. Itâs not what itâs about.

Yeah Ppl call it bullying but itâs definitely still abuse man
Yeah, absolutely... A lot of stuff that happens to kids really gets cast in a less serious light because of this when... Kids are brutal to other kids, and kind of have an awareness they can get away with certain things re: their peers. Some of the stuff that happens between kids is tough to classify as bullying too. Like âabusive friendshipsâ are often hard to outright class as that because those are complicated in general... Tough subject.
