#neath!

Wow this was a ride! Thank you all so much for participating. Honestly, I was surprised up till the very end. I was expecting the final two to be Ad Infinitum and VMOL! I was also crazy shocked that The Fine Print and WDISOD. Also, I'm consistently surprised by the success and popularity of And So We Fall. For an underdog that Stupes even said was just a lower-budget video while they were moving house, it's surprisingly a fan favorite, and it deserves that status! The stupendiblr community's tastes seems to generally line up pretty well with Stupes' more popular songs in general, but there are definite differences.

I may be noticing things that aren't there, but I feel like there was a bit of a preference against character-heavy songs. Namely, songs that utilize a lot of characters and switch between them. Sure, in the finals we have Neath!, and The Merry-Go-Round made it pretty far, but those are unique in that they feature Stupes' original characters. Songs that heavily rely on game characters and switching perspectives for a more musical theater style (like The Most Fashionable Faction, Art of Darkness, Back Together, Pictures of Spider-Man, and The Fine Print) were usually eliminated early. Songs with a single strong character or theme to drive them and a consistent tone throughout were favored.

Personally, the only one of my top five that made it to the semifinals was Ad Infinitum, which makes sense. I found that I agreed with the majority in most of these polls, especially near the beginning. Interestingly though, the songs that I was in the minority on were usually the ones I was more passionate about, like The Ark & the Tinderbox. I was the only one who voted for Four!

I won't say who I'm rooting for to win, but honestly, it has more to do with which blog theme I'd rather have than which song I genuinely think is better. Whatever happens, the new blog theme is gonna be fun to design, though!

See you all on the other side... oh, and after this bracket is over, I'll start daily/weekly/sometimes-ly lyrics posts. I'd also be happy to do another bracket sometime, and I have a few ideas (best mv, best costume, best character voice?) but I'll probably wait a while and see what requests I get.
