The Waltham-based National Center for Jewish Film, described by The Boston Globe as “keeper of the Jewish film legacy,” presents an eclectic roster of Jewish films for its 19th annual film festival running through May 22. Director Amos Gitai will be on hand for the Saturday, May 14, screening of “Rabin, the Last Day” at 1:30 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Arts.

An observant Sephardic Jew, the painter and photographer traveled more than 2,000 miles to chronicle the unspoiled beauty of the frontier. Now, Carvalho’s Journey, a PBS documentary by filmmaker Steve Rivo, looks to tell the story of this artist and photographer.
